Does asking someone to look at their message request seem desperate?

so i work with this girl and she’s somewhat quiet which i understand since it’s a loud environment and her English is ehh. but on instagram she has her messages set so not everyone can message her and if someone new does they have to get accepted. i texted her once 3 weeks ago but she still hasn’t seen it. do i tell her or what should i do? like i really like her and i think i’m getting signs she likes me too. and i’m the only guy from the job that she follows which could also be a sign

What if you just like… talk to her. I can't really say anything either bc I do the same thing, but to say something from behind a screen is different. It’s fine if you do, but imagine if that’s how’s how you start your relationship. I mean, you really like her right? She would be someone you want to talk to. Ik it’s hard but maybe try to grow your relationship in person.

i mean i do talk to her but get nervous. yesterday was a big step since i asked her to get lunch with me on break together since it’s easy since she lives like 40 minutes to an hour away from me. she’s super nice and sweet. but i get what you mean i was doing that to keep in contact outside work
