Compromise. And how you go about that is by determining how important the point of contention is to the other person. Relationships (at least in the beginning) are power struggles. And in healthy relationships that power ebbs and flows. No one person can always have the upper hand in a healthy relationship (unless of course someone just wants to be dominated) and that's almost no one. Don't let little arguments become big ones. And know that people change over time. You can't expect someone you've known for 10 years to remain the same. Think about it. You're not the same person you were 10 years ago. But if you stay close to the other person you can change together.
Talk it out. Come to an understanding or s compromise.
