Am I a great asshole for throwing my friend into the pool?

So yesterday my best friend R had a barbecue&pool party at her house and invited me, my girlfriend and some other friends that we know each other since birth. During the party we started a water fight , with water balloons and some of us enjoyed while others were sitting down and eating drinking etc. I threw some of my friends playfully in the pool (a plastic one) and after a while a lifted a friend of my best friend, that I know for many years too and threw her in the pool with clothes , after I made sure she hasn't had her phone or any device that could be destroyed on her. She got out of the pool and threw me a flip flop playfully to get back at me for throwing her into the pool. Then, I offered her my towel and after she changed clothes I smiled at her and she did a heart with her fingers to me. When we got home with my girlfriend, she told me that I shouldn't have thrown my friend into the pool without her consent and I felt terribly immediately. It wasn't my intention to harm her in any way, I just wanted to create a playful mood. So then, I texted my best friend who hosted the gathering to tell her about she told me that it's okay, and that it doesn't matter. Am I a big asshole? I feel terribly.

Not a "great" a**hole, simply a "big" a**hole. Great would suppose that you are above others in terms of intellect, which you obviously are not according to your behavior.

Rest assured that if I would have been in the place of the victim, I would certainly have let you known about your childish behavior in a way that is not very civil.

Not everyone takes a change of clothing when going to a party because not many people expect to have to be thrown into a pool and have the need to change clothes.

What if that victim had no change of clothing? You have to think before you act impulsively because more often than not, the outcome is in your disfavor.

Not an asshole. You were being playful towards your friend. You took care to make sure she had nothing on her like her phone that could get damaged. And your friend wasn’t mad at you. I understand why your girlfriend said that you shouldn’t have done it, but in that specific situation, no harm was done and your friend clearly enjoyed it.

You think so? I don't know If she enjoyed it, because she got out of the pool immediately. I am worried that she could have felt uncomfortably and didn't say anything to me.

No your girlfriend just lacks any standing. Your friend was the one it happened to, she's not bothered by it. She was playful afterwards and didn't have any issue. Your girlfriend just sounds exhausting.

She did flip me off after she got out from the pool, and threw me a flip flop, I think playfully, and when she changed her clothes and relaxed she did the heart finger thing

Typically you shouldn't do that, but at the same time your friend clearly didn't mind. So it can't mean you were an asshole. Even if your friend did mind it would have been an honest mistake. I think your girlfriend overreacted.
