What is it like to be in love with a narcissist?

If they have charm, they can be fun and entertaining to be with, initially.

Then, when it comes to conflict resolution, having deep conversations, or caring about your needs, then you’ll see the dysfunction.


You’ll come to find that everything is about them and their benefit — and if something doesn’t benefit them directly, they won’t have an interest in it.


If their needs are met, that’s all that matters. Your needs, wants, and feelings don’t really matter — only theirs matter.


Empathy? Forget about that. Being with a narcissist is a one-way street. You cater to them. They don’t cater to you.


Will you be taken for granted? Yes. Will you be taken advantage of? Yes. Will there be double-standards? Yes.


So, all in all, being with a narcissist is a bad idea.


After the initial rush of a new relationship wears out and you begin experiencing conflicts in the relationship (which are inevitable) THAT’S when you really experience just how dysfunctional things can get when you date a narcissist.

Narcissists are good at pulling you in. I used to to know narcissistic woman for a few years. We were friends and I was a little older than her. So I felt like I was an older brother figure to her. She was an attractive woman I'll admit. But she never displayed any attraction to me so I was fine with where the relationship was. After a few years. Seemingly out of the blue she started coming on to me. As i said she was attractive and after knowing her for a few years. I felt like she was a good match for me. So I returned the interest. Then she abruptly told me she didn't think of me like that, which naturally confused me. But i figure i misread her. But no biggie i moved on, went back to just having normal conversation with her. But she'd routinely keep steering it back to that event. Telling me she didn't want to lead me on blah blah blah. It's at this point I started realizing I was dealing with a narcissist. A d when I re-examined our history I see all the signs I'd missed. For example every guy she's dated during that time was already in a relationship. She was not interested in those guys so much as she was about just trying to take then from other women. Narcissist a lot of the time on the surface will seem like very good people they'll be really friendly, they'll be really inquisitive about you and seem really compassionate. But what they're doing is setting you up for the kill.

I had to end all contact with this woman. But she stalked me for 2 years. Afterward. Not because she liked me. But she missed my attention. I'm very leery of women who are too friendly too quickly now.
