Will asking my girl bestfriend to cuddle ruin our relationship?

So I have a girl bestfriend and last night we were watching a movie and sitting really close to eachother.

Does her sitting really close to me mean that she would feel comfortable enough around me to cuddle? if so, how would I ask?

Yes, asking for cuddles will definitely ruin your friendship. Why?

Cuddles are usually given among couples or those that consider themselves as couples. It is something more intimate, just like holding hands for example.

If you ask a friend for cuddles, you indicate that you consider him/her more than just a friend and that could be the end of your friendship. It does not matter if you are homosexual, bisexual or heterosexual or anything in between.

I personally would end my friendship right away because I could never consider that person as a friend anymore since he/she stepped into my intimate sphere by starting to cuddle. Those are things that friends simply don't do because it indicates that they want more than simply being just friends.

Personally I wouldn't. You risk ruining your friendship if she thinks you have other ideas and she doesn't feel the same way. The only person I have ever cuddled other than a partner is my sister on girl's movie night when we were younger and I was still living at home. Doubt she would even want to anymore but who knows. Problem with it is that if she doesn't want to and takes offense to it then you risk making your friendship awkward. Is it really worth it over cuddling? What's next after that? Are you going to try and take it further? See what I mean what could be going through her head if you ask or try to do it?
