+1 yI don’t think my boyfriend really cares. It’s a cost of living crisis, so having two incomes certainly is beneficial and as things stand we couldn’t survive on his alone.
I love my job and I have big goals. I’m currently trying to work my way up alongside doing a degree to provide me with more opportunities (and because I just love to learn and want a degree). Work is tough, I find it very difficult, but ideally I’d prefer a 4 day work week rather than being a housewife. I’d like a few days at home to do my own thing rather than working 6 days a week (currently).
My boyfriend always encourages me with my job and ambitions.20 Reply

I would never want a husband who wanted to limit my value and contributions to household tasks and children. I have immense respect for women who choose that lifestyle, but it’s just not for me.

+1 yIt’s up to her. Mine currently works but has often said she wishes staying home while our kids were small was something we explored more.
The double income is very nice but in the end, it’s her happiness that matters most. Would I personally prefer a trad-wife, all things being equal? Heck yeah! My wife has often said she thinks that kind of life is very appealing to her - but slicing our income by about a third isn’t.
But that’s also not really an option for us so it’s just a little escapism for us to chat about at this point.00 Reply
work from home if possible.
as far as my possesiveness goes i would want a housewife (s) but i have no intention being a provider, nope not happening, a protector? absolutly think of me as your guardian beast but i have no intention of being a bank account and turn my penis into a credit card to me providing is a feminine trait. but i also don't want other guys around her/them.
so like i said work from home if possible.

+1 yDepends…I have a masters degree and a career…I stayed home for 3-5 years after having 2 kids…I didn’t like staying home. Much happier working while my kids in school.
With my degree and career, I don’t believe in cooking amd be a cleaning lady because I make enough to have a house keeper.
some women want to be stay at home moms…but if I was a guy…I would want her to have similar education level so that my future kids can be educated similarly.
I do know women who graduated from Ivy League schools and be a stay at home moms to raise kids…they don’t cook/clean. They have Nannie’s.10 Reply
+1 yMy guess is most men want women to do it all, for them (cook, clean, look after the kids, bring in income as well). The exceptions are likely the ones that want full control over a woman to be a baby-maker. That said, it really should be a woman's choice either way and one choice is not better than the other.
10 ReplyIf I was married and we can afford either or, it is up to her on the end, we will discuss so possibilities of working or remaining home, it's not a matter of what I want, she is her own individual, not a android for me to command, we discussed it together openly and come to a middle ground but I'm end I would side with what ever she decides to do, hide I would go about resolving this,
10 Reply1.5K opinions shared on Relationships topic. Ideally I am able to provide to where she doesn't have to work, if she wants to work and we don't have kids she can go for it. But i'd love to be able to make it optional for her.

+1 yHonestly if I have enough money, I wouldn't care if she worked or not as long as she is happy. Not every man nowadays can provide that much and realistically most households require dual income. I think it's important for women to be realistic about that.

+1 yMy wife was always sensible enough to not depend on what I had to say or to get dictated by my wish. She stayed at hime till the kids were old and independant enough (higher middle school). Then, she started working part time only because she felt bored at home. She still works but only to stay busy. I do not have any intention to make her work to bring in the money. I do not consider that to be her job.
10 Reply I would not force her to work. I think it depends on the person and our current situation. Some women like to work and some don't. Some women want to work when they are single and not when they are married. Some women want to work before having babies and not after having babies. It also depends on our financial condition. I would prefer to date and marry a flexible woman.

+1 yI don't care. Her income will never match nor will it significantly change mine.
However if she thinks she will sit at home drinking latte's going to lunch with the girl's everyday and online shopping. She can live somewhere else.

+1 yWith the advent of "home office", why not both?
OK, but to be serious, I'd rather She stayed at home and took care of the home and the kids. Of course, I would provide the financial stability and general safety for that.

@MzAsh
It really depends on the country. In Poland, about 15 000 PLN per month of net income might be enough, though only for a modest, only slightly above-the-standard life due to having to upkeep a certain level of savings due to the highly volatile economic situation, and also given that we had no bank loans to pay back and we'd rent our home instead of owning it. A definitely safe level of income would be 25 000 PLN per month. As for some other countries in the world, it highly depends on the cost of living there, but I suppose I could achieve the required level of income in most economically stable countries due to my occupation.
+1 yMy mom raised all of us, stayed at home, and I'm way better off for it.
If life was affordable I would lean towards being the breadwinner so that the kids could have full time parental love, guidance and upbringing00 Reply1.4K opinions shared on Relationships topic. Neither. I prefer to pay all her bills and do all the household chores.

Anonymous(30-35)+1 yShe will work until we have a first child, after which she will stay home and be a mother and homemaker until the kiddos are in school full time. At that point she'll go back to work part time so she can contribute financially but be home when the kids get home. Once they are in high school and/or we feel they are ok being home alone, she will go back to work full time and resume her career.
Kids deserve a real mother when they are young.

I love that plan. It’s not as easy as we wish to have these planned as we want.
I have a higher degree and good set of skills…not hard for me to be in and out of the work force with my career demand.
Most women/men can’t get that. Anyone out of the work force a yr or two gets jobs but can’t say pays well.
Opinion Owner+1 y@MzAsh They deserve a father who is as present as possible but who also earned enough that the mother can be home with them and be a real mother for them.
Opinion Owner+1 y@midnightmoon05 Thank you, I agree. But they are our children and they are worth the sacrifice.
Anonymous(30-35)+1 yI would love to stay at home and take care of everything that needs to be tended to at home while my husband works and brings home the bacon.

00 ReplyShe can do whatever she wants, but I prefer it if she stays home while I take care of her. Or if I become rich, I would stay home and take care of the kids while working inside my house.
