What do you do when someone you love cheats on you?

This is the second time I caught my boyfriend cheating on me with the same person. I forgave him the first time & thought he wouldn’t do it again but I was wrong. How do you deal with someone cheating on you and breaking you?

Well he obviously has no respect for you. And tbh you didn’t have much respect for yourself “forgiving” him the first time. Did you catch him or did he confess? I am guessing the former and that’s the case it makes this all a ton worse. When cheating happens it’s only forgivable in maybe less then 10% of incidents And that’s usually when someone confesses and takes full accountability for their mistake (i. e. accepting they might very well get dumped)

I notice it’s always women chasing the same kind of men. I wonder how many loyal nice guys you passed up during this whole process. Although I will say many women have a real f’d up mental quirk by “chasing” taken men (which ruins everything for everybody). While that is absolutely zero excuse for what he did but did have to point that out. Men don’t chase taken women the same way as vive versa. It always happened to me when I was in a relationship. It was aggravating af but I didn’t indulge it. I refrained because I respected my then girlfriend.

Anyway the fact you even had to ask this question is a big problem on your end. The old saying is: “Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me.” It’s happened twice now and a part of you seriously still wants to forgive him? Really?

Have some self respect and dump the asshole. I get you have feelings for him but your feelings are mixed with insecurity and it’s going to get a whole hell of a lot worse if you let this go again. No doubt he will do it again. He will just try to be sneakier this time. If that happens to bother posting about it on GAG. Just instead get psychotherapy because this is a self esteem issue.

This is not worth it. Draw the line, dump his ass and never look back. Sure it will be tough at first but you feel more self respect the longer you are away with him and that is what really matters.

I just don’t get how so many women will dump men over absolutely fickle issues nowadays and yet so many other women will let this bullshit go on. Yes feelings are real but common sense is even more real. And common sense produces better “feelings”.

Well that was dumb. Forgiving him the first time. Once a cheater always a cheater. To cheat the first time is the hardest because one needs to find a strong enough reason to do so. They have to justify it. After that it gets easier and easier. Leave now you know he is going to do it again. So you need to ask yourself "do I really want to be with someone who has so little respect for me?" Followed by "do I really deserve this? Have I done something to deserve this?" You answer those questions and you will know what to do

I my case the relationships ended the day I found out.

When I found out they were cheating they were out of my life the same day, there was nothing they could say in mitigation, I cut every contact point they had for me, Phone, Email, Social Media, even told any 'friends' we had in common not to contact me about them, and any passwords they'd seen me used were changed that day

Anything they'd left at my apartment was boxed up and left with the doorman (he was told they were no longer welcome) if they showed up.

If I happened to see them on the street or one of the places we used to go they were ignored.

leave and move on. a cheater is going to cheat as the saying goes. my self worth, mental health, and overall well being is more important than to keep trying with such a disgusting excuse for a human that a cheater is.

i know it sucksn it hurts, and turns you mentaly inside out. work through that and stop letting them ruin you.

Dump. You're not married... you are not obligated to even try to make things work since you aren't married.

Things won't get better. You have trained him to know that you will always take him back which increase the chances of him cheating again. He probably cheats on all of his girlfriends tho.

Never happened to me personally, but when there is no trust or respect left in a relationship, it's time to move on. That generally is going to be happening long before someone cheats on you. By the time they have other people lined up, they are way detached from you.

The problem is that we are attached emotionally at times.


For someone to do it to you twice proves that they do not love you. They would rather risk you catching them than to stay true to you… the fact that they have been caught also shows they think so little of you because they perhaps believe you’re the type who is overly loyal and would never leave anyway..
