Would you obey the 6-INCH RULE?

Question

A strict Christian family required their daughter to follow the "6-inch rule" with her fiancé, meaning they had to stay at least 6 inches apart until they were married. They could not hold hands and their first kiss was on their wedding day.

Ha ha ha, this is a common conservative christian rule. When I joined the LDS church for two years, it was common at dances to hear "Leave room for Jesus"! Parental chaperones swiping a bible between couples during slow dances while laughing to make sure there was enough space. A bible is about that size. It was meant for the actual body/torso though, hands and arms could touch for dancing purposes.

That being said, I've never followed that rule outside of events related to that church. Wasn't raised to be super rigid and anti-touch. Touch makes people healthier and stronger.

I grew up Baptist, and they had us hugging everyone in church! "Hug the person to your left, now to your right, hug the person behind you, now in front of you!" Body touch was very much encouraged during services and after.

Weird... And of course this rule is coming from the Duggar family 😭 that family is literally apart of a cult. there's an interesting docu series about them on Amazon

one of the sons ended up molesting his own little sister and the family did everything they could to cover it up and defend him.

Thats exactly what happens in these families that are super super religious. They teach their kids that sexual urges are evil. They can’t hold hands or kiss until marriage.
Then they act surprised when their kids end up snapping and doing disgusting things to children in the family..

It's one thing to wait with sex until after married.
I'm not saying it's necessarily a good idea, but maybe.

But not touching at all?
No kissing, no hugging, no holding hands, no dancing, no cuddling, no sleeping next to each other, no nothing?

No I would not agree with that.

Also if you frequently are like 6-8 inches from each other.
It's likely that it sometime might be accidental touching if you like turn around or something and don't pay attention to keeping your arms in or such.

i wouldn't want my daughter to marry or see any guy to be honest i don't even want a daughter if she will grow up, only daughter i wanna have is if she will stay as a kid who didn't even hit puberty.

also how will i know if they respect such rules? i won't be by their side all the time, so safest is not having a daughter.

My parents had surrendered the idea of ''ruling'' me when I was 6 or 7 years old.

It was an easier life for them, and it was a wise thing to do.

Grandma tried it a little longer, but only embarrassed herself.

As for 6 inches... I have my own ideas here. 6 inches INTO my girl can't be too bad :)

One last thing: about the ruler picture shown here: The words ''smart'' and ''made in China'' right next to each other don't make sense to me... as a personal experience.

I waited not because of religion but because i wanted to be sure i was with the person i would spend the rest of my life with. My wife and i were intimate before marriage as we both knew we were meant for each other. As a result no i would not follow a 6 inch rule

Nope. Because I'm an adult, not a teenager. If my parents still couldn't deal with that fact that I'd be wanting to kiss, hold hands, etc. with my future partner, that's on them not me.
