A healthy mind and body is the ultimate thing that's going to attract me the most. A healthy mind especially, as an unhealthy body is much easier to correct than an unhealthy mind prone to spiral into negativity, depression, and anxiety.

If a woman has a healthy and productive mindset but out of shape, for example, and interested in correcting it, that's not a big deal to me since that's something we can work on together and even potentially together for the rest of our lives. I always have room to improve this way as well, so we can become training partners for life as long as this interest of having a healthy body is shared between us.

Next for me is communication. I favor a communication style designed to maximize empathy, taking turns sharing things about each other with the goal of developing mutual understanding. It places minimal emphasis on who's wrong and who's right (a conflict-prone approach) and maximum emphasis on understanding each other's viewpoints with the goal of minimizing and deescalating conflicts. Having this communication strategy in common can make a world of difference in our ability to get along with each other, and even when we continue to thoroughly disagree with each other over subjects, finding laughter and hugs even in those cases.

Another which might turn off feminists, but it's nowhere near as extreme as it sounds, is the most basic form of submission. It helps me to become a better husband when a woman trusts me (voluntarily, and without my demanding it), to protect our family. That means trusting me to have final say on matters that affect the entire family. It does not mean I want a blindly obedient housewife; on the contrary, it's far more attractive to me if a woman is educated and passionate about a career or interest of her own and reasonably self-sufficient and independent in this way and assertively lets me know what she wants.

All I ask is that she lets me be a conventional man and have the final say on matters that affect us all; in exchange, I will always listen to her concerns and desires and often even go with her idea as my executive decision when she has the better idea, and the ultimate responsibility over the well-being of our family is mine. I will also not micromanage her or be controlling; my goal is to protect and provide in the way most familiar to me as a man, not to control. If the metaphorical building catches on fire, in exchange for trusting me to decide where to lead our family, I will be the last to leave and the first to die if someone has to die.

Those are the top qualities to me. I basically described some of the most important qualities of my wife which I consider to have been most important in being happily married for 14 years so far. If I were to hypothetically be a bachelor again, they would be the top qualities I'd seek.

Hard to choose just one thing. Looks matter, but ultimately you can be the most beautiful woman ever, but I’ll still turn you down if you’re boring. So I’d say being interesting is huge.
