What’s a small, seemingly insignificant moment in your relationship that had a big impact on you?

For me it happened in Afghanistan, were I was relocated in the peak of the pandemic. One day I was supposed to go downtown for a meeting and the girl I had met online and emailed with for three days, asked if we could facetime. I made an excuse to cancel the meeting, and the convoy was later targeted by the Taliban’s.

That girl is today my wife. I'm glad she sat in quarantine and wanted to videochat.

When I got my first apartment, this girl and I were so broke, we were sleeping on air mattresses, and they kept popping before we could get enough cash together to replace it with something better, so we were spending like a hundred dollars every couple of months on inflatable mattresses.

Then our business landed a decent contract and in a few months I was able to get $500 together.

So we went to a mattress store. We just wanted something big enough for the two of us but they barely had anything bigger than a twin that didn't feel worse than the air mattress. I felt like shit because we worked so hard and went through so much and I couldn't provide something better for us.

We saw this crazy nice mattress front and center in the store, a pillow top spring with tall sides. She eyed it and I invided her to lay down with me. It was like being on a cloud. She said "this would be the nicest thing in our apartment" it was funny but it just reminded me how bad I felt that she could have been living with her parents in a pretty nice place and she was basically going camping with me everyday.

She left and the salesman came to tell me it was a $1300 mattress. I was like "Damm how much is it if you get it certified owned?"

And the dick head all matter-of factly goes "About 50% off" and he starts telling me about how the mattresses have to pass a blacklight test before they get picked up and they steam clean them. He started showing me mattresses I could get for 300 and they were kinda nice.

I didn't want to lie to her about it so I tried to sell her on it, she was hesitant. But then I asked how much the $1300 one would be and the salesman started to look kinda nervous. There was one left and it was rated A+ quality or whatever bullshit he made up. I was just trying to keep my poker face up.

Long story short I got that shit for $500 and it was the best purchase I ever made. At the time, we were absorbed in the moment thinking about not having to sleep on an air mattress but it didn't take long for it to become a pillar of our relationship. Every night we went to sleep, every time one of us was working and the other was home, every fight we had would eventually end with a reminder of how we moved in together with nothing.

She proved to her toughness and loyalty and I showed her that... I guess that I have a habit of doing stuff like that. Lol

I was working from 7pm to 6am every time i go back to home i find my girlfriend sleeping.
So i go to bed and every morning when she wakeup at 7 or 8 am. She was kissing me and aim sleeping. And try to not making any Noise

I met a man on some Stanger on a strangers chat app. As my habit after some talk I uninstalled my app informing him that I'm doing so. He told me to not delete my account and so I didn't. He also had same habit that he use to use such app to talk to strangers for like once in year or so. Soooo rare. So i simply uninstalled my app without deleting my account. Then after 1 week i don't know why i wanted to relogin into that and I saw his message daily good morning wishes good night wishes, talking about his days in short 1-2 sentences everyday. Which was not his usual habit even he didn't know why he waited for me when I told him clearly that I'm going. And he is now my boyfriend and we are looking towards getting married.

My husband yelled at me once because I didn't wash his underwear. Something clicked in me at that time and all the emotional connection and dependence on him just disappeared.

I gathered his wet and dry laundry together, went to his bedroom and just threw it at him.

He never yelled after this because of the housework and I completely stopped doing chores for him. He then apologised and we sorted it out but previous affection and emotional connection never came back.
