A coworker who was supposed to train me but didn't even though he has plenty of time. He finds excuses to mingle with everyone else including new coworkers but acts uninterested when i try to talk with him about work related topics. He acts nice to me in front of others but forgets his manners around me when we are alone. He would basically act as if i don't exist but suddenly greet me when he sees me talking to other men or walk by to watch me interact with others

A lot of people are threatened by new employees coming into the workplace. The preexisting employees have established themselves in their roles and their social groups, and they don’t want anything to disrupt that. They also don’t want new people outshining them and taking their duties. Trust is very low in workplaces today, because most people are out for themselves. So “new meat” in the workplace isn’t welcomed as it once was.

In addition, many people are simply too self-focused or even lazy to put the effort into making sure a new person feels welcome or comfortable. They may also be bogged down with their own workload, or may be unhappy about the current work environment and therefore don’t have the time, energy, or desire to accommodate a new person and help them adapt.

A good rule of thumb for the workplace today is to learn to hold your own and take care of yourself. Get in there, learn the work, do your job. Don’t expect anyone to hold your hand or make things comfortable for you, because it’s the exception now rather than the rule that it used to be.

Some bullies are selective. A bully by definition is a predatory person who, from a perceived position of relative power, intimidates, abuses, harasses, or coerces people, especially those considered unlikely to defend themselves.

There's probably some truth to your statement, but in the end, it still falls on him. What's important is you figure out how you're going to deal with it versus trying to figure someone else out.
