@IslaTheWitchExactly! Like watching porn, going on dating sites behind the other person's back, even following a lot of girls or guys on this website and private messaging each other. Flirting with the opposite sex. Lusting over the opposite sex. All of these things and more are emotional cheating when you are in a committed relationship with someone else already.

It means the same to me as physical cheating and I would leave the person regardless. I don’t do second chances not after my last ex who left me in a heartbeat to get back with the dude who she cheated on me to begin with for when he got out of jail.

Yep, most people, especially the guys consider it just as bad as physical cheating.

I am sorry you had to experience what you did with a cheater. They can be very cruel to the one's they've cheated on. This I know from my own experience.

I can understand why guys would, and thank you. I was cheated on in all but 1 of my relationships and I’ve only ever had 4 real relationships. My last one was 9 years ago. Just sick of being cheated on.

I hear you! And the emotional cheating they do behind your back really hurts too. But it seems they don't care. They like doing it and they keep doing it even in the face of you finding out about it.
Lots of relationships have ended because the guy (I guess girl too?) had an addiction to pornography. bI went through that for many years. It's like, hey, while you're huddled in your man cave (the bathroom) getting off on porn with your stupid phone, I'm right on the other side of the wall wishing you were here with me instead of those women in your black plastic box!
Then when he would finally came to bed, he would want me to hug and touch him. I would tell him those women on your phone can do everything but touch and hug you. Go and hug your phone and see if it feels good.

it means where you're not physically cheating but emotionally you're developing romantic feelings with someone else while your already in a commited relationship. To me it's just as bad as physically cheating.

It matters what a man promises you. If you're in an extended relationship with a flirtatious person, and you know that he's someone who is seeing another girl with your head off, and if these facts and circumstances are honestly known, it's not actually cheating.

If he likes to watch porn and doesn't act closed to women, I'm talking about honesty.

Whether the terms suit you or not, that's another matter.

Cheating is deceiving the other person.

If he appears to be faithful and cheats, that is deception. If he appears to be honest and lies, this is deception.

Men and women can be well-intentioned and friendly to everyone. This is not deception, but individual sociability.

Everyone needs to feed off something. But it doesn't matter if it's sociability or pornography, or anything else.

Being in a relationship with someone doesn't make them our slaves. That person is a structure outside of you, it has loneliness and limits.

So social distancing, that includes you.

Just because you like someone, hang out, meet, make love, as I said, doesn't make them your slave.

Of course, a person who is committed, loyal, blind to the outside and completely open to you is preferred.

But the problem is that you don't know what stage of a person's life they are in.

What I'm talking about is that you have to be respectful of that.

If he doesn't look at another woman as a partner and doesn't feel like it, then there's nothing wrong with cheating.

Other than what you mentioned in your update, just wanting to talk more about your feelings to another person, your needs and otherwise in my opinion, also counts as emotional cheating in my book. This may offend some people, but for me, if my partner would rather open up more to let's say, their male friends instead of me, or just acts cold and distant towards me and pours out their feelings to them, garnering their sympathy and love instead, that cheating too.

When I'm seeing someone, I'm all in there, meaning I'm not only your romantic partner, but also your emotional support system and your best friend, and I want to be that person for you. If you'd rather be closer to someone else instead, then it's time to end things

it can be measured in the time you spend or think/daydream about this other person... this time is taken away from your relationship

@sage2021 I don't see flirting or any other communication at work, with friends, or work/friends outings as cheating. Flirting is fun, and as long as people in relationships take care of their boundaries, it's harmless.

I also don't see checking stuff out of curiosity as cheating. People by design are curious.
