I mean it for relationships, a friend said to me today that she likes someone but she is content with being his friend for now.
I firmly believe that if she keeps thinking that, then her for now would never end and he might end up with someone else who took the initiative to approach him.

This definitely depends on this guy. A lot of guys only be friend women because they are interested beyond an actual friendship. If she is consistently rejecting his attempts to take it further , I can see what you mean however if she’s just taking it slow, it may depend
