Ladies, would you be upset?

Would you be upset if you were to find out that your boyfriend or husband doesn't celebrate something like Valentine's day? If so, why?

We haven't done anything for Valentine's Day in years. We stick to anniversaries and birthdays and such, days that are meaningful to us rather than a forced corporate holiday.

So you would believe it to be an excuse if the man doesn't celebrate it?

Not particularly. Personally I'm not big on valentines day (for a reason I won't share here on the forum)... and the one year my ex went out to grab the bargain-basement quality chocolate box in the expensive satin box... the overpriced flowers and the whole shebang... I had to plaster a smile on my face and pretend I was enthralled because I could clearly see how much trouble the poor guy went through to get me all this stuff. It was SO SWEET, and yet like nails on a chalkboard for me...

Some holidays, though, I really get into and would love if my man was also into them as well. I'm sure there would be important dates for him as well that I'd have to learn to remember. There may be a learning curve, but that's pretty understandable in my opinion.

That's fair. For me, Valentine's day is just about the only thing I don't ever want to be included on; personal opposition to it.

And that's completely understandable. I asked the question because recently, one of my female coworkers got upset with me when she found out that I don't celebrate Valentine's day.

Yeah, and she knows that I have no interest in dating, yet she's always getting upset whenever she asks me about things that would apply to dating and I tell her "no".
