I think they can reasonably be cordial with one another to a degree. Limited to perhaps a polite nod from a distance or very limited as-needed contact, otherwise neither you nor they will get on with your respective lives.

It's possible. I've been good friends with a former girlfriend for 29 years. I know I haven't had romantic feelings for her and she has given no indication that she still has some for me.

One of my best friends is an ex. My wife has become good friends with her as well. To be honest we got along really well but never clicked at all romantically or sexually, which is why we decided to just be friends. I hang out with her all the time, and I haven't had any desire to do any more than be friends with her.

I think it depends on the situation and why they broke up to begin with like for example... My ex I was with for 8 years was abusive and cheated on me would I remain friends? No. But sure some can.
