Do You Believe in Soul Mates?

I don't. I think we are potentially compatible with any number of people, and are limited by logistics. Once we decide, that person becomes our "soul mate".

I think the concept of soul mates is a romanticized Hollywood myth and can lead to infidelity and a tendency to second-guess when things get tough. After all, if things aren't perfect, what if we made a mistake?

I think that the odds of finding a "soul mate" out of 8 billion people, and that "soul mate" being in proximity to us, is highly unlikely. I think it's even more unlikely that most people who marry would find their soul mate with those odds. What do you think?

My view is pretty much the same as yours. I don't believe in soul mates. Just people that are more compatible with you than others. And as you said, it's based on logistics.

The logistics are basically characteristics and similarities.

Characteristics are like honesty, kindness, intelligence, etc. And to be honest, some people prefer different levels of each of these. Some people prefer less honest people because it creates more drama and mystery which they like. Some people prefer people that aren't super kind people and prefer them being somewhat mean and aggressive. Some people prefer less intelligent people because of how they feel when talking with them.

Similarities are like how well you communicate with each other/how well conversation flows, similarities in views, interests, sense of humor, direction in life, love language compatibility, way of thinking/rationality, sexual compatibility, physical attraction, etc.

The reality is people are not "made" for eachother. Your best chance of getting on with someone is by choosing a person who actually values you, values others as much as yourself. And by putting forth effort to foster a healthy relationship with that person.

Theoretically speaking, that can be anyone. But we both know the REALITY is some people that just is not in them, will never be in them. The reality is most people think that relationships just happen, do not want to put any of the work in, and will just choose a new person when things start to get difficult.

I think that we are all very special people and I feel and I believe that we all came from the same place... Probably more than once... And since we are from the same place and we are all spirit in that place I think we are all soulmate s. ... Before we left wherever we came from we had to be one myself one with others and one with the universe and that right there would make you a soulmate to anybody and everybody...

I'm an empath and I feel people's energy and emotion in a heartbeat and it tells me so much about that person in seconds..
And when I feel that energy and it flows with my energy it feels like we could be soulmates.

It's like when making love with somebody and the minute before you're going to have an orgasm there's a moment of clarity where you are one with that person you are one with everything you can look into each other's eyes and almost read each other's minds...

A lot of people call that love because they never felt it before they've never been loud like that before so they think it's love..

It's not it's two energies becoming one and it is one of the most beautiful feelings in the world

And I think when people feel other people's energy and can become one with them they believe that they are soul mates..

For me it just wouldn't be possible because I can feel that feeling that same feeling with many many people and some are deeper than others but it is the most beautiful feeling in the world..

That feeling of I have met you before I know who you are somewhere in our past blah blah blah blah blah blah and that feeling is just absolutely beautiful

I believe in the word soulmate.

And if people want to believe that's who they are with each other I think that's a beautiful thing too there's nothing wrong with that.

I mean that's the same thing as a twin flame and that gets even more intense than soulmates LOL that's also very beautiful thing and so much deeper.

. And it is a positive word that brings up beauty in both people so it is what it is however people want to take it I think but I'm not going to say yes or no I believe that we are all soulmates in a roundabout way

I do, but the term “soul mates” is a little broader for me than it is in the standard sense bc I’ve studied the concept a bit. I include dear friends in that circle — the ones you don’t have to explain much to verbally because your souls touch and understand each other. (Very metaphysical, I guess.)

In terms of lovers and such, yes I also believes the soul connects with the person you’re meant to be with. While the relationship needs work and tending to thrive, the soul knows its “home” with that person. You can trust them and put your soul in their care just as they can put their soul in yours. (It’s at once classically romantic and spiritual at the same time. It requires a level of trust that some folks have never experienced because they’re not comfortable letting go of their acquired hangups/phobias.)

No I feel for a fact we don't have one soul mate. But i do believe in something. I just don't know what it is or how it works. And it can be with more than just one person.

I have had a deep connection with a best friend. It's hard to describe. But we were just on the same page about everything and conversation and laughter came so easy. There was love and attraction too. But one barrier to anything further (he was gay 😄).

Now - ten years later - I feel something strongly with another guy. It's like a deep connection both physically and spiritually. Again it's hard to describe. And again it's not perfect. But something connects us that's so hard to let go of. And I feel weird things happen so much with us just popping up to message eachother at exact same moments. Even if we were out of contact for hours. Or it's middle of night and can't sleep. It's like boom, same, and first thing we thought of was each other. However again there's another barrier as our age gap is too large for a relationship.

So I don't know...

I guess it depends on definitions of soul mate. I'd like to find someone with whom I am so connected like those two I mention but can also truly be mine.

But it depends through which paradigm you see life.

Such concepts don't make sense from a scientific/reductionist/materialist paradigm.

It could only make sense from the idea that life has inherent meaning, we are all bound by karma, and there are no accidents.

From a spiritual/new age perspective, these concepts have specific meanings and definitions. From this perspective, you can have numerous 'soul mates'. It refers more to a kind of soul tribe, where you feel highly aligned with that person. And it just feels natural, even in silence. But a 'twin flame' is only one.

I am a big believer in a soulmate. In fact, my last boyfriend and I were soulmates. In fact we were so much alike that we entertained the idea that we were what is called "twin flames". Which you can be both actually.

I remember when I first met him, and we were getting to know each other, kept saying "I found you again". I wasn't sure what that meant exactly but it was like we were raised in the same house the way we were so much alike.
I have said this before on here. He once said "We aren't two peas in a pod, we are the same pea". So, he felt the same way about it as I did.
Unfortunately he passed away suddenly last year and it is still so hard to not have him here with me.
But we did get to experience those feeling's and made happy memories together while it lasted (7 years).

We could learn to love almost anyone. Think about arranged marriages. I don’t agree with them but they make it work.
I agree with you because I am on soulmate number 4 or is it 5… I don’t remember. First we lust, then we love sometime in the future and then if lucky we last together. That’s it.

There isn't just one, but I absolutely believe in them since I experienced it first hand on levels most people can't comprehend. I truly felt like I recognized her soul once she opened up to me and our compatibility was off the charts.
