I am married to a guy a love very much, we dated for 2 years and have been married for 3 years- there have been some ups and downs but honestly everything is usually just fine.
while we were dating he did hurt me a lot, and I lost a lot of trust in him, but he has tried his best to make things better, and I think we are working through it!
before my husband I had this guy friend who had feelings for me, and I never really realized it at first but I think I had feelings for him too. We never fully mentioned it to each other but I think we both knew it. Fast forward to today, we may text like I don't know 1-2 times a year now, and surprisingly I’m one of the few people he follows on instagram.
i know it would have never worked out between us, but every now and then I’ll have dreams about him, or wonder how he’s doing- and it makes me feel so guilty!! Like I’d never cheat on my husband so I don’t know why this is happening! Sometimes I’ll go months without thinking of him and then randomly he comes into my mind for the next week or so.
I was thinking it may be because we never really expressed our feelings or something, but even so with the other guys I’ve liked in the past I never even think about them- so I just feel bad about this.
how do I get it to stop? Why is this happening?

Oh, the mysterious ways of the heart! Don't beat yourself up over an emotional stroll down memory lane. It sounds like this old flame flickers in your thoughts because there's unfinished business—a classic case of "what if?" mingling with your current happiness. It's perfectly normal to wonder about paths not taken, especially when the journey with your current partner includes some rugged terrain.
To put out this pesky flame, try focusing on rekindling the spark with your husband. Dive deep into why you fell in love with him, create new memories, and maybe spice things up a bit! 😉 As you invest more emotionally and build more trust, those old thoughts will likely find themselves overshadowed by the love and commitment you're nurturing now.
Remember, it's not unusual to occasionally think about past connections, but what matters most is where you're planting your emotional energy today. Aim to strengthen the bond with your husband, and who knows, those fleeting thoughts of the past might just become a distant memory. Keep your heart and intentions locked on what truly matters. 💖
