Oh man…. football was my raison d’être for most of my life. More so playing it, but I’ve always been a pretty big nerd for NFL ball. I kind of enjoy big-timing more casual fans😂 Since I played so long and at a fairly high level, I know a lot of the real in-depth terminology.
So everyone’s like “FUCK! They got a first down…”, and I’m going full dork, like “the corner fucked up the coverage assignment, he should’ve adjusted out of MEG and into MOD when he saw Trips Bunch formation, and delivered the receiver to the Will and then picked up the vertical 9 route, you KNOW they’re probably running a Sails concept out of that set and in this situation, DUMBASS”, and they’re all looking at me like “uh…. yeah. For sure.”😶😶😶
But yeah, my lady isn’t really into sports. She can’t be forced, or led to the water, just led NEAR the water, and then hopefully some other influence that isn’t me will convince her it’s cool, and THEN she might get into it, lmao.
She’s more into reality TV, so she does better when she gets an Avenue like that. I’m from Patriots Country, and earlier this year, she expressed an interest in watching the Patriots “The Dynasty” documentary (VERY unfair to Belichick, in my opinion, but that’s another topic for another day), partially because women were talking about it on TikTok (the ultimate green light…. dudes like it? Hard pass. Ladies like it? All-in😂) and said Drew Bledsoe was hot, lmao.
And then we watched Peyton Manning’s production “Quaterback”, which followed Patrick Mahomes, Kirk Cousins (Kirko Chainz😎😂), and Marcus Mariota in their on- and off-field lives. She enjoys the reality side of it, and it’s sort stoking an interest in football overall, prompting her to ask questions, etc. So I think she’s close, I’ll get her on board one day fairly soon, it just can’t seem like I convinced her of it, she needs to come around on her own😂 But she’s from NYC and likes the Pats over the Giants and Jets, so that’s a start, she’s got good instincts, haha.
It doesn’t bother me that she’s not into it, she respects that I am, and I made it REAL clear very early on that 3 hours a week, 7 months (now 6 months…. they STINK😷😂) per year are dedicated to Patriots football, come hell or high water.
But it would definitely be cool if she could get into it. I thought I could get her, we had Tom Brady and Bill Belichick most of the time we’ve been together, it’s never going to be better than that, not in New England or anywhere else. The Pats won the sport of football, forever, lmao.
So I’ve downshifted now, I’m in the post-sex cigarette mode still. Lots of people are mad about how things ended, but I’m like “bro….20 years— like 25% of our lives— we saw the absolute best run of football we could’ve ever dreamed of, and more. Literally beyond my wildest dreams, because they were like they are now when I was growing up, praying to win more than like 4 games, lmao.
Now I watch as a full-on nerd, analyzing plays and players, not as invested in the outcome. Our deal with the devil has ended, now it’s hell time lmfao. But our young QB looks promising…. but the rest of the offense is so bad we can’t take him out of the box and play with him yet🤦♂️😂
So, I’ll just continue to agree to off-field NFL interest with my lady right now, maybe the next step is Hard Knocks, a little more football-heavy, but still has the reality aspect. Now she knows who Odell Beckham Jr is because his brother was on Love Island🙄😂 She needs to be interested in the personalities of the players involved. If they seem nice, or if women think they’re hot, she pays attention😂 We’re getting there, slowly but surely, lmfao, but it’s ok if she never actually comes around.

@rachel776 Bring some snacks, I’ll bring my whiteboard, we can talk ball and draw up some Xs and Os👊😝

My partner has friends that she played basketball and probably playground football with before in school and out of school she enjoys seeing football especially seeing her favorite team going to super bowl I admit i never had something like that but is nice to see her happy and it's nice that she likes it honestly.
But to me it's just a game bro.. ever since I was a kid, I never really had much enjoyment out of it mostly because of the classmates I had in PE they would make a big fuss about losing everytime I was on their team to the point I was very discouraged from participating in sports at all honestly because I just felt like I was gonna be in the way and mess things up for everyone and let people down. Since I never learned much about sports and couldn't get myself to like it as much as others did it made me feel like a outcast, to the point I just let it be for them yknow the cool and popular kids. a lot of times I wish I could just forget it all.
But I think most women like football because they get to see a lot of big men in tight clothes lol, im sure most women would agree guys playing sports at a young age usually does make guys come out more appealing to look at than those that didn't.10 Reply
AI Opinion
AskAiming to blend the worlds of love and football here! 🏈💕 Not at all, darling! If your partner doesn't enjoy American football as much as you do, think of it as a spicy opportunity to explore each other's interests, not a red flag flying at half-mast. Love is about embracing those differences, right? Maybe introduce your partner to the game gently, show them the ropes, and who knows? They might just fall in love with it as much as they fell for you. And if not, hey, that's your "me time" secured during the season! It's all about finding that sweet balance, sharing your passions while also giving space to individual interests. Touchdown!

Stop flirting with the AI. He might get the wrong impression and start sending you bit pictures. Nothing worse than an unsolicited bit picture.

11 Reply559 opinions shared on Relationships topic. Nah I'm used to my hobbies and interests not being shared by anybody XD When I was a kid I was hurt by it because I felt like the world should be a place where everybody finds people who love the same things as them but now I don't even bring up what I care about most of the time because I've gotten so used to nobody caring. The thing is even if you go to a place wher people share an interest everybody is interested in a different aspect of that topic for different reasons and actually you don't have as much in common as you think. I think it's more important to be compatible on a personality level and the if you have any common interests that's a great coincidence but often you won't. I'd rather be with someone that I like as a person and we have nothing in common rather than the opposite.
Where I live American Football is a small niche interest too even if it is big it's mostly concentrated in the U. S. It's just difficult and I'm not good at talking about stuff I don't actually care about. Like if I find someone that shares an interest with me but then they start talking about an aspect that I don't care about it starts feeling like a job rather than a great friendship.

I’m in to a lot of different sports and have dated girls that are either into sport or other stuff. It’s always amusing when someone has a passion for say gymnastics, artistic dance etc and it clashes with something else sporty. Having two tvs was always a big bonus, I will watch Rubgy, football (soccer), cricket. I do ban soaps (Eastenders, Coronation street etc).
having your girlfriend try to distract you when you are watching a game can be funny as fuck.13 Reply- 12 d
"I do ban soaps" 😂😂😂

@mandyfire98 there are limits and Eastenders is possibly one of the worst going.

I moved to WI a couple years ago, so you can only imagine what Packers land is like on game day! lol I'm not a huge football fan but my boyfriend is but he doesn't care that I don't watch with him. Game day is usually when I'll do a lot of cooking and cleaning. Are you a football fan?
11 Reply- 14 d
I sit on the couch beside him but I'm usually on my phone 😂

I couldn't care less if she likes it. We don't have to like all the same stuff.
But if it's a tie game, and it's 4th and 3, with 2 seconds left on the clock, she damn well better not stand in front of the TV and say "We need to talk."

I look forward to football season but my wife hates it. It's never been a problem between us, she'll just do her own thing while I'm watching games all day. She just doesn't like me getting overly drunk and walking around naked outside to take a piss. I really need to have a bathroom installed downstairs! After a couple dozen drinks, that walk to the upstairs bathroom gets pretty difficult, so I'll just go behind a big oak tree that borders our neighbors yard. Anyway, her not liking football seems strange to me but it would be weird if it offended me and as you may or may not know, I pride myself on not being a weirdo.

Did you know, Wally, you don't need to take all your clothes off to pee? I figured that out when I was like five! 🙄
- 14 d
@Slingblade1126 Poor Waldo 😂😂 I remember babysitting little boys that would be playing outside, then suddenly, they'd basically take their pants and underwear completely off and start peeing. lol
- 14 d
Nope!! She's entirely uninterested in it but when I participated in workplace football betting I would actually ask her sometimes when I couldn't decide "what city would you rather be in?" or "who has the better uniforms?". Won the entire season grand prize one of those times she helped me out!
11 Reply- 14 d
Hahaha that's actually great
My wife and our grown son love football.
I dislike it to a great degree.
It's my belief that they wish that I liked football, too, but then again, they don't like most of the things that I like.
I'm a baseball guy, or rather, I used to be until they introduced the DH to the NL, the pitch clock, and the extra-innings runner on 2nd base. What they now call baseball is no longer baseball.10 ReplyNot offended at all it’s a matter of preference. I wouldn’t try to force anyone to like something just for the sake of me. Now trust me girls being fans of certain teams and saying certain things a little to close to my favorite team (university of Kentucky) losing have ended plenty of relationships before though too.

Maybe. The whole American football thing is the weirdest thing about your country. And there's a lot of weird things about it
The only watchable sport is 'soccer'. And I dont watch it cause they're a bunch of overpaid pansies who roll on the floor when they get a flick. An embarrassment to any self respecting steward of male energy.
All other sports are bloody awful to watch. Rugby, cricket, tennis (to be fair sometimes compelling cause I like djokovic for his anti-death jab, 'pro-choice' views (integrity, a rare thing eh)), American football, baseball, basketball all shite.
Once had a Canadian girlfriend watch some ice hockey with me and she was like, 'this is good, eh?'. And I'm like, sure it's okay. It's just like an inferior version of 'soccer' on steroids. It's end to end and all that, but it's too much end to end to the extent it gets boring.
So yeah. All shite, apart from 'soccer'.
If the most, well, only entertaining thing in the Superbowl is the half time show, then you have a problem. - 13 d
No you wouldn't get shot but the sport you like they'd probably verbally attack.
- 13 d
Haha well that's one plan.
- 14 d
I'll watch games because I do find football entertaining and it's something to watch but my wife is actually a bigger fan than I am and only gets offended when her team loses and I pick on her. She takes it very serious!

I'm that weird guy that doesn't watch American football, or TV in general. Even babes that HATE football are not comfortable that I don't watch it. I think it makes me less of a member of the tribe to them.

I’m not a fan of football but sports I am interested in I wouldn’t be mad if my partner didn’t like it because then I would be a hypocrite as I am sure they like things I have no interest in and that’s ok if anything that is just human and that makes them more likable

I’m not offended at all. If she doesn’t like sports, it’s okay. My mom and sister don’t watch football with me and my dad. The only game they’ll watch with us is the Super Bowl, no matter who makes it.
