I think paying these players millions of dollars is plenty of support and if you asked them they will probably agree with me.

The pledge of allegiance would be awkward at a tennis match lol. The only difference I can think of is that tennis originated from France. Baseball and football originated from here. I get what you’re saying though. You just want to watch the damn game lol. I’m sure many people agree. Sucks that they’re trying to add politics to football. My dad has been bitter af since the cowboys lost. I tell him that the Troy Aikman days are over lol
@Not_Average I’m trying to imagine the bougie tennis fan version of the fan who always aggressively polices other fans’ anthem decorum. “You there! Remove your cap at once, or I shall be forced to give you a proper thrashing!” Lmao, but yeah, I’m just talking about any pre-game anthem in any country. You gotta do the Canadian anthem if it’s hockey in Canada, soccer teams do it around the world…. and I get it when it’s Olympic or some other international competition where you’re literally “Team USA” or wherever, but I just never quite understood when and why we started tying in anything governmental to these particular events, especially when it’s not universal across all sports, let alone other forms of mass entertainment. Like Guns N Roses didn’t start with the anthem when I went to their show last month, and that was in Fenway Park, where I DO get asked to go through the whole custom when the Red Sox are on the field in front of the same sized crowd. It’s not that I’m offended by any of it, regardless of what I think, I can stand up for 60 seconds and take my hat off, if nothing else than to not ruffle anyone’s feathers. I’m more just wondering if the fact that it’s cause for SO MUCH feather-ruffling these is reason to maybe re-examine the custom and maybe just keep it for more government- or military-related events, like functions for Memorial Day/Veterans’ Day/4th of July, shit like that.
Should they also play a white national anthem and you’d say the same thing?
They already have. Star spangled banner has been the anthem since the 1800s.
Also idgaf about you downvoters, that won’t change the new anthem so get tf over it and do something productive with your time and lives. There’s real serious shit happening in this world.
I wish I could give you two thumbs down for this comment as the asker. What this does is cause division among the nation
I wish I could give you a thumbs down I’m general lol and changing the anthem at a football game is not going to be what divides the nation. It’ll be people like you who thinks change is an attack on white people. I bet you’re also outraged each time a statue of a racist figure is destroyed.
I am not a white male!
Oh, so you’re just a negative person in general. Makes sense.
I’m a person that wants everyone to feel included and United.
Same, so why would you be divisive-minded? The star spangled banner does not represent the nation now, so the NFL chose a much more uplifting song. The new song mentions liberty, god (4x!!), and is not segregationist how protestors are demonizing it to be (amongst other things). You’ve got to be really mad and negative to reject the NFL playing this instead of star spangled banner.
Read the lyrics and tell me what exactly is not inclusive about these lyrics:www.elyrics.net/.../...national-anthem-lyrics.html
Would you support the idea of removing the national anthem for the black anthem across the nation? All schools?
This isn’t the national anthem by any means tho so what’s your point?
Did you even read the lyrics? Or are you just outraged that people have deemed it the black anthem, even though that isn’t what it is and it doesn’t mention race?
I am so grateful to god that people like you are not the ones who decide what happens in this world. You just get to sit and bitch your friends then go to work like the rest of us. If you have the song change so much then don’t watch football.
I’m actually not mad or happy about this. I am neutral/don’t care. I’m just curious if you’d be in favor of removing the national anthem for the black one instead? Don’t you think the black anthem is better so then why don’t we just put that one and have Asians, Hispanics, white people, native Americans, etc praise it?
That makes zero sense, because if you were neutral about the change then you wouldn’t be leaning towards feeling like this is some attack on the nation and divisive. Also, the “black” anthem, as I have said several times, does NOT mention race. So you need to stop letting the fact that it was deemed “black” be your driving force in an argument we shouldn’t even be having if you don’t lean a particular way. My vote is FOR it so I am going to give you facts that support my thought process. What exactly is your driving force to go back and forth, sir?
Again, since you keep going blind when I say this: THIS DOES NOT MENTION RACE.
One more time, just so you can grasp and move past this: IT DOES NOT MENTION RACE. Not blacks, Asians, Latinos, etc. it is inclusive of EVERYONE, not divisive!
It’s called LIFT EV’RY VOICE and sing. Not the black voices specifically.
@joedalton wrong how?
You can barely even spell, dude. Might wanna sit this one out.
So tell me what blm did for the black community?
BLM has nothing to do with the anthem change, so that’s unrelated.
Unrelated to what?
Unrelated to the NFL updating what the anthem will be.
You can't pick and choose the national anthem
They didn’t pick and choose. The anthem is not ever-changing.
Also, it’s not the new national anthem, just what is sung during games. I hope you don’t go around spreading that false info.
Whats the meaning?
Because the star spangled banner is not representative of every American, but this song is.
How isn't it?
Well for starters, it was written by a 19th century slave owner, Francis Scott Key. The main part you hear sung from the song is what’s popularized but no one mentions the 3rd stanza, which says “no refuge could save the hireling and slave; from the terror of the flight, and the gloom of the grave”.
I hate to disagree, but all evidence to the contrary, as they DO have a black anthem, meaning they ARE weak, impotent, ineffective crybaby bitches looking for a crutch to get them through life, as off affirmative action, mail in voting and welfare checks aren’t enough.
Stole all the money blacks donated and bought mansions and high dollar cars 🤣🤣🤣I’m still laughing at that shit, the users got used, HARD.
@rcljr hey man, kindly back the fuck off. I have no desire to hear your racist ignorance nor go back and forth. Take the hate elsewhere.
@HollyK21 , another leftist child that cannot handle the truth, go bury your head in the sand with the rest of the leftists bitch
Lmao better than bending over for trump how you do, spineless loser.
You’re another scrub that’s gonna be crying in the bar come football season. You can bitch at me all you want but it won’t change anything and I could really give less of a shit about your little pissy feelings.
Also, I am blocking you now, I don’t need to go back and forth with a racist pig. Reply if you want but just know I can’t see it☺️❤️
@HollyK21 oh NO ! What will I ever do? I’ve been BLOCKED 🤣🤣🤣because an immature punk leftist bitch asked a question and only wants answers in support of her position, typical gas lighter.
Well, apparently , honey, you’re too fucking stupid to figure out the block feature as well. You are gonna have a rough life being that fkn stupid… cheerio !🤣🤣🤣
I see you’ve commented again, but you’re blocked and clearly don’t know how to stfu😂 so if you can see what I’m writing, let me just say you’ve been dismissed bud. Go do something productive☺️❤️
No honey, once you’ve been blocked you cannot reply, see what I mean when I say you’re gonna have a rough life being that fkn stupid? 🤣🤣🤣
Dude just go away and stfu, what’s even your point I can't READ IT.
58 year old boomer weirdo with no voice in this world and no life. Stop talking to me.
Fox tossing, never heard of that one, you mean fox hunting?
@rcljr Nope fox tossing. You have an arena that is walled in mush like football. You have teams of two people each holding one end of a rope or sheet of clothe. Then you release wild animals into the arena, preferably foxes to run chaotically. Then the teams of people try to fling the animals into the air like a football with their cloth and spectators watch the wild animals tumble to the ground. It was often done with vermin animals, but foxes where preferred because they try to right themselves in the air and land on their feet like a cat. Teams that fling their foxes the highest in the air get the most points. Inevitably the animals end up tired and they fall hard breaking their legs or necks when they slam into the ground and the game is over.
That’s pretty screwed up, wonder if they’d have the balls to do that with something that could fight back, like a cougar? Kinda reminds me of all the trannies competing in women’s sports, unfair advantage
@rcljr Sometimes they would get bit by the animals, but yeah it was mainly the smaller ones… It was pretty popular 300 to 400 years ago. When it started to waiver in popularity they started wearing costumes and doing dramatic theater as part of the game to try to keep it interesting much like the NFL with their pink uniforms and BLM emotional kneeling. That’s when you know a sport is dead, when they stray from the purity of the sport. I see the parallels… Sports come and go. Football is on the way out.
Oh, shit 🤣, 300 years ago, I thought you were talking recent events
Aren’t you Hispanic? You guys are not included in anything at all
Not even slightly surprised your dumbass said that. the only thing your good for is giving your dad a rim job when he sneaks into your bedroom when mom is asleep.
Yeah, black folks got suckered into donating and the assholes took the money and bought mansions and cars.
I didn't donate. I read their website way back 2015. Pushing LGBT and fatherless homes. Lgbt and black people do not mix. Unless they been indoctrinated by the left
If you dislike gherkins, you can pick them off your burger or you can ask to have your burger without gherkins. Seems like some people have opted for the second option, which isn't unnatural or wrong. When enough people ask, it just becomes weird that they keep serving gherkins with their burgers and you have to wonder what their goal with those gherkins are.
Are they gonna play the white national anthem, too? I want my nation of white to be represented!!And, what about the yellow, red and brown natiional anthems?
Lmao trust me you not watching the games will do no harm to the NFL. You’ll just be sitting at home in a funk come football season. That’s too bad for you.
@HollyK21 nope, their ratings are in the toilet. This will be a real shock to the owners. I am not the only one who is fed up with this crap.
Fed up with what crap? There’s nothing wrong with the song.
Also, a quick google search will show that ratings were suffering a bit in 2020 but only by 17% and they are back on track as of late.
@HollyK21 They are disrespecting the real National Anthem. There is only one National Anthem. It is called the Star Spangled Banner. In hockey they can play the Star Spangled Banner and Oh, Canada because both US and Canada have hockey teams. This is not the case with the NFL.
Honestly let’s use facts, not emotions. This song is in no way replacing our national anthem. It is only replacing what is sung at football games. Secondly, this song is not disrespectful or divisive. Have you read the lyrics?
@HollyK21 If it is not the American National Anthem it does not belong there. It could be the goodship lollypop and i would not watch.
That’s your choice, and an unfortunate one because it sounds like you enjoy football. The NFL is trying to be progressive and inclusive of everyone. The national anthem is arguably outdated and does not represent every American. This song is inclusive of everyone, ie the title: lift every voice and sing. If you hate it that is fine, and you are not alone in that notion. But there are far more people who do not share your view and think the song is fine.
Its not replacing the national anthem just what they play at football games? so the national anthem. Anyway how does this help black people? It doesn’t it just disrupts our free American culture by disrespecting our nation and our liberty
Well, the song isn’t geared towards black people. Have you read the lyrics? I don’t see black mentioned anywhere and it’s called Lift Every Voice and Sing.
You must not be American
And no, it is not replacing our national anthem, as you both so dramatically are acting like it does. Just what is sung at the NFL.
You must not know how to read. Did you check out the lyrics?
And yes I am American, thanks for asking. I don’t even watch football. I just think all this outrage over them changing the anthem from something outdated to something more inclusive is what exactly is divisive.
It does not matter what the lyrics are they don’t belong together.
And its not the NFL’s job to dictate how our culture is and what we stand for as a nation
@HollyK21 It is a tradition to play the Star Spangled Banner before sporting events. It is also a tradition that everyone stands and removes all headgear. Erasing our traditions is a slap in the face to all our veterans and all the people that worked hard for the last 250 years to make America the greatest country in history.
@Nick473 if you’re too narrow minded to understand that the lyrics are divisive and you have zero desire to be progressive then just say that. Regardless you’ll just be sitting with a frowny face come football season since you’re opting out of watching it and that’s too bad for you.
@exitseven who’s tradition exactly? It’s not mine and clearly not the tradition of many others because as you see, it will no longer be sung at the NFL.
Also nick, the NFL is not dictating a single thing for you or anyone else. All of these things are a choice for you and you are not obligated to watch the nfl. Simple as that.
@HollyK21 It has been sung at every NFL game in history until now. I would call that a tradition.
I could care less about football and i never mentioned the lyrics to begin with. The issue is that you progressives think that you know a better way but you dont and nobody wants this
@Nick473 clearly people want it, or else it wouldn’t happen.
No clearly someone got a paycheck
I disagree, and after reading the lyrics (which you so strangely refuse to do), I think it’s a perfectly appropriate and uplifting song to individuals of every race.
And traditions don’t change. Thats the whole point.
They do, because traditions are difficult to maintain as society changes.
Up until slavery was abolished it was “tradition”. Should we have stuck with that as well?
So you dont like the national anthem?
Skirting right around my question, I see.
So are you. You dont like freedom?
And no im not answering your silly unrelated questions so you can try to prove a point with flawed logic
Lmao now you’re getting really desperate to make some sort of point. If you won’t answer my questions then I sure as shit won’t answer yours.
And you asking if I like freedom is related, right? Go to sleep.
Also, my logic is not flawed; I’m just going off of what you say. You said traditions do not change and that is the point of them, correct? So by YOUR logic, slavery should still be a thing because that was very much a tradition.
So you prefer an anthem about singing loud. Instead of one that has meaning?
Have you read the lyrics?
“God of our weary years,God of our silent tears,Thou who has brought us thus far on the way;Thou who has by Thy might Led us into the light,Keep us forever in the path, we pray.Lest our feet stray from the places, our God, where we met Thee,Lest, our hearts drunk with the wine of the world, we forget Thee;Shadowed beneath Thy hand,May we forever stand.True to our God,True to our native land.”That’s just a verse but I’d say that is more than about “singing loud”.
Holly traditions stay the same. No matter what they are good or bad. Thats what a tradition is by definition. If you decide not to follow a tradition thats your freedom
Actually they don’t, but if YOUR traditions say the same then that’s fine. Stop arguing to argue, especially when you refuse to address a single statement I make and instead keep hammering me with questions that I have in fact answered.
You forgot the part about the slaughtered people how ironic and biased
We have come, treading our path through the blood of the slaughtered,Out from the gloomy past,Till now we stand at lastWhere the white gleam of our bright star is cast.Keep cherry picking from a perfectly fine song though lmao
Im not arguing thats just what it is.
It’s really not😂
So you have traditions that change every year?
Like you have the easterbunny at Christmas now?
If you want to be ignorant and uninformed then go do that with your friends (assuming you actually have friends) while you miss football season.
Nope, my traditions don’t change every year.
Uninformed about what?
And football is a waste of time just in general
My goodness lol have a good night, nick. Hope you find a hobby or something to do while you miss all the games.
Well if football is a waste of time for you then you shouldn’t even be going back and forth with me.
I dont even see the point. Its like a rip off “black anthem” thats not even about black people.
I dont care about football were talking about patriotism and how Americans should view our country
Because Americans should view the country exactly how you view it, right? also, the new song is very patriotic, in my opinion.
The point of the song isn’t to be about black people, genius. That’s why it’s called “Lift every voice and sing” not lift every black voice. Like what aren’t you getting, dude?
Its not about how i view it. Its about our individual rights, our freedom, justice, and a government that serves its people
So why are they calling it the black anthem?
Are they pretending to do something for them?
It was dubbed the black anthem because of its power in voicing a cry for liberation and affirmation for African American people. However, the song in its entirely is not solely for African American individuals, as the lyrics will state. It is for EVERY voice.
Is that your issue? Because the fact that you feel like it’s geared towards black people seems to be your key point in arguing. I mean this is a new anthem for a sport that you don’t even care about, so what’s your outrage over?
Ahh so they listen to this before they go loot stores and flip cop cars? Sounds more like digging in an open wound doesn't it?
It’s because blm just causes destruction
And its good for politics if they weve that into our culture
You might not see it but our country is losing its grip and ill be surprised if were still a nation in the next 20 years
Wow, I’ve heard some ignorant shit in my day but this takes the cake. I’m super grateful that your opinion does not make or break what happens in this country. Have a good night.
I’d appreciate if you don’t say anything else to me anymore, I’ve been poisoned enough by your racist outlook of this situation.
Did they not do that holly? In nearly every city? Thats how blm wants change. This is not ignorant or racist
Blm does not represent black peoples best interests
This was all political because trump was in office. You dont see anyone helping them now and there is no outrage in the streets on the news anymore. Its just crafted to minipulate masses of people and trick some
Its all about protecting the power structure. Not the actual people who suffered from this
@HollyK21 No it is just a way for liberals to let the rest of us know who's in charge, I hope they enjoy it while they can,. They won;t be happy when the pendulum swings the other way.
