Is a relationship real if it lasts more over a year or so?

Lets say a couple had been together for over a year. He is older than his lady. He is 44 and his lady is about mid 20`s The guy is a public figure in the entertainment business, the woman is a "normie" not public figure and not related to the entertainment business. The guy is very private of his love life but still he had been caught by informal paparazzis here and there with the woman. When they had been caught in the period of that year, photos show not romantic signs between them, no kissing, no PDA natural between the two, no holding hands. They guy is alway seen walking in front of her and he on the back. The woman never looks happy on pics with him. It seems he is the one in control. Just one exception after on year they were caught holding hands but they were aware the papz were there (maybe someone tipped them to take pics of the couple) so it was not a spontaneous photo. But the guy body language says a different story that being so romantic or passionate toward her papz or not papz around. People believe their relationship is real beause they been together for more than a year and if the guy did not want a real relationship he would had backed out long time ago but they are still together, because he wotn be in a fake relationship that long.

Now back to my question can a person then live in a fake relationship for a long time bu tto the public they act it is real?

Discarding the example with celebrities as it is just external and impossible to relate to, for me. Discarding that then, time is no measurement, wearing a mask is frequent and evaluating someone's relation to someone is hard to predict without sufficient private elements.

Length is by no means a measure of a “real” relationship , surely as soon as both parties honestly accept and promote it as such then it’s “real” by definition. Whether 4 days or 14 years , length has no bearing on that.


There is also the consideration that many in the spotlight could want to uphold the façade of having a “relationship” where it’s all just smoke and mirrors purely because they are in the public eye and want to present a certain optic or image.

I think we just take people on how they act. If they are seen together a lot then we assume they are a couple. A lot of couples don't hold hands etc. I suppose the girl could be a PA in the way you are describing the interaction.
