I think a lot of us confuse love with infatuation.

Love is unconditional. It's forgiving someone for every single one of their transgressions. A person in love doesn't expect anything in return. They're also willing to let a person go in order for them to move on and be happy. They're able to love someone from afar if the relationship turns toxic.

Infatuation is how they make you feel, it's selfish. Usually only focuses on superficial aspects.

I don't think love can turn to hate. If you end up hating a person, you never loved them.

Well since we are on confusions, then I think you are confusing romantic love with parent love.

I don't see any instance of romantic love being unconditional, it is always conditioned. Conditioned to well-being, or mental health at the very least.
