It's easy to show appreciation by non-verbal signs. It involves eye contact when talking to someone, body language (body and feet turned towards the person you talk to), social distance (when you or the other person lean in a little closer than you would with other people), touch (slight touch on the shoulder, upper arm or back while greeting and/or kissing on the cheeks - this of course depends on the social habits in your country or culture), voice mimicking (speaking in the same tone of voice) and probably a bunch of other things that may go unnoticed.

Slightly biting on the lower lip, prolonged eye contact (or looking once, diverting the look, then followed by a second longer look), twirling fingers in her hair, sitting close to you in a group of people and not shying away from accidental touch are all signs that something is happening. By then, probably both of you would feel it.

Actually saying that you appreciate someone or that she matters to you is much harder. It requires courage and determination. Only been there once. It's like walking on thin ice.
