Men, what are your thoughts on this?

So, you’re in a relationship with your lady and you have kids. You lose your job and she wants you to get a job that matches her income or make more than her. I get you want to get a new job right away because of your family, bills, etc. But, your partner doesn’t consider how you feel about losing your job. What are your thoughts?

This recently happened to me , when I was laid off from my job , things prior to me losing my job with my wife and I were going great , but the second I lost my job , her whole personality changed on me for the worst because I was having a hard time landing a new job , but it also made me realize my wife was a fucking user and was only with me for security , not love. I felt like I had no support from her whatsoever and started butting heads with her like crazy and told her I no longer want to be with her , because she is a user , All the times my wife lost her job or quit a job like she always done through the years , I always had her back and supported her until she landed another one , 100’s of times probably more than that , but the one time I needed her support , I was a POS to her eyes , and that was my answer to kick her to the curb where she belongs. Now that I finally landed another good paying job , she is now treating me better and I just laugh and say you had your chance and you blew it you fucking user. The girl doesn’t want to work at all , she acts like she was put on Earth to be catered to , I told her good luck with that shit , Go find yourself a guy you can use , because I am finding myself a girl that wants to be my partner , not a fucking user. Sadly there are a lot of users on this planet , so I am just focusing on myself and not giving my heart to any girl that is selfish and a user. I will stay single until I find a partner , if not oh well , at least I know I am not being used.

I'm sad that I lost my job I guess , but I'm happy with my wifes/ partners reaction , I could use this scenario as a " new start " , now normally in a situation like this ( she is making more than me ) she probably has some really great advice as to how I should go about it , so I'm going to draw on my tenacity , do something outside the square to try and draw the better opportunity.

I'm actually happy that she has in a way , forced me a little to do a lot better and hopefully making some decent money in the time to come. I agree with her that its no point , in living within my own sorrow as its time to move forward.

Well, of course you don’t want to sulk. But, what if she said she’s tired of being the breadwinner? Even though you both worked before you lost your job? And she goes on about not being able to be with your kids?

Well , here is where it gets tricky doesn't it? I'm assuming a more assertive attitude , rather than a purely negative aggressive view. I think as you describe would be more than rude , I don't think it would be productive response by her.. simply putting me down , this would destroy my confidence..

I don’t know, it just sounds like she’s making it all about her. I mean, it’s not like you lost your job on purpose. Unless you did then I can see why she would be mad.
Maybe it’s because of how women are treating men these days. That’s probably why the wording rubs me the wrong way.

I think you are correct , it all hinges on her attitude , and sounds like she is being condescending towards him , these actions will not help their overall family position.

nobody needs to tell me that "I need to do my job as a provider to my own children"

so she wouldn't even have to say it... my job doesn't define me as a person or "my worth as a person" either

I don't have a profession or a particular trade, so I am not limited that way either... I do business, so, fortunately... there's a lot of variety on that kind of living, and I've done it a few times before, so... I am very much capable of providing for a family, in fact I already do that in few ways

I mean she's just practical and thinking things ahead but I guess for me at a time like that I'd be bummed out and sad if she isn't more supporting than pushy. It all depends on how you deal with a situation and well being nice to your partner at a time of need.

Getting a good paying job isn't as simple as wanting one. I would secure a job first then worry about finding a good paying one.
