Is it normal that I’m kinda jealous of my boyfriend’s video games?

My boyfriend has been playing video games non-stop lately and I feel like I'm being ignored. We used to do a lot together but now it's like his gaming is his only priority. I've tried to talk to him but he doesn't seem to understand how I feel. How can I bring this up without starting a fight?

Men get addicted easily. Their struggle to maintain balance (an hour a day vs. non-stop) doesn't help. You can treat it like many women do (he's immature, break up, you deserve better, etc.) or you can decide to see it as a problem you can help him get out of (even though you are not his mother). That is completely up to you.

Just know that he likely doesn't know that his video gaming might cost him his relationship with you. The tunnelvision he's having right now is just too strong to see or hear anything else. So you have to rid yourself of your fear of having a "fight" with him. You must fight for your "needs", your relationship and to a certain degree for him depending on how important he is to you (even if women tell you that no man is worth fighting for). Not in the literal sense of the word because literal fighting will most probably have the opposite effect but you can put a break on his non-stop gaming if you do it smartly.

If you don't fight, you will end up breaking up with him in the long run anyway. Rest assured. But you will exhaust yourself in the process so it is better to take immediate action than to wait because the more you wait silently and allow things to happen, the more he will think there is no problem to it. And then when you can't take it anymore, he will feel blindsided and be resentful towards you because he you didn't "tell" him earlier (yes, I hear "immature!" like echoes inside the Grand Canyon).

I'd suggest you give him a "warning" first (one of two) in a kind, loving and respectful manner. Something along the lines of "honey, it hurts me that you spend more time playing video games than playing with me (suggestive gestures like placing his hand on your chest might be effective at this point). I don't want to take away anything from you but I don't want to lose to video games either."

Make sure that it's not just words. Words go in one ear and go out the other ear especially if his tunnelvision is focused on the game. He needs touch, so take his face into your hands and stare him directly into his eyes. Use this "warning" to invite him to the negotiation table later at which you can discuss and share productively. But most importantly tell him that if things don't change you are forced to reconsider the relationship. Reconsidering is best done moving out for some time. Or having some sort of no contact period. He must feel the consequences, not hear them.

I have no idea about your relationship so this might be a completely inappropriate suggestion but the important idea is that one, you fight for what is important to you but two, you don't do it infinitely and three men need more than just words.

Yes it’s normal to feel that way , because you aren’t receiving what you are giving , if he is choosing video games over you? that’s a red flag big time , and something you should honestly talk to him about and express your feelings of concern. If nothing changes after you talk to him , then you are best to walk away and find yourself a man that chooses you over video games

talk to him about going out, doing something, dancing, learning something, realxing somewhere. if you cannot get his attention, time to apply more pressure about the distrction taking all his time.

Unless he is a lot younger than you, it is a little weird he is still playing a lot of video games at that age. Maybe try to tell him that you are sad that he hasn't spoken much to you and you want to spend more time with him, maybe kiss him as you say this.
