When someone calls your relationship weird or yourself weird is that bad?

Most likely it's said with a negative connotation. But sometimes it can be said from a place of humour or genuine not understanding but ok with it.

Like as a cougar, someone might say "that's weird" cos they really don't get why I like younger guys... I wouldn't be offended. I'm more offended if they say it's disgusting or I'm taking advantage of guys or say I'm being used. "Weird" could technically imply those things. But makes it less offensive. So in that way the meaning may be negative but it's used in a positive way lol

Weird is usually NOT a compliment, but you have to hear how the person calling you or your relationship weird says this. It is context.

If weird only means unusual, then, again, it is context. Unusual could simply mean unique and rare. Nothing wrong with that.

When I was in high school and before, there's no question, when I was called weird or when I called someone else weird, it was an insult intended to hurt.

I don't know why, but over time, the edge has worn off. Now it means that something is unusual or surprising. I no longer take offense and actually would love if the person calling me that wanted to talk about surprises them.

I never took it to be. Weird is another word for "different" and I almost pride myself on being different! If someone says I'm weird, I thank them!! Who wants to be the same as everybody else? In the words of Bill Bruford when asked why he doesn't play drums the same way John Bonham does, "Because he's already got that style covered."

Depends on context.

Weird is subjective/relative because there's no objective standard of normal, so weird is a sneaky judgmental term for less popular/foreign to that individual people.

There needs to be a consistent idea of normalcy, and respect for individual identities.

“Weird” is relative. Everyone has to go at their own flow and what suits them personally. People fit together in different yet custom ways. I doubt it is weird if it works for you.
