Possible? Yes. The wound will heal and turn into a scar. It'll always be visible but it won't cause any pain or intense negative feelings anymore. Even the memory of it will fade with the years. You might even joke about it after decades if the relationship manages to survive the blow.

That being said, it does depend on a number of things in my experience: Time, effort, the fruits of that effort and a rather specific experience and of course the other person.

Time doesn't need any further explanation I believe.

With effort I mean effort on your side. Do you wan't to forgive? Are you willing to take on the work that it takes to actively forgive someone?

Does the other person want to return to and maintain exclusivity with you? Is he/she willing to take on the work that it takes to repair the damage?

If both are willing and put in effort then it can be the start for a new beginning for them. Regained intimacy and trust, new memories, new happiness i. e. fruits of effort that help heal the wound and turn it into a scar.

In my case however willingness and effort was not enough. I had to find myself in my partner's shoes when I fell in love with someone else to be able to fully forgive her. Though I didn't cheat technically, I did realize that those things can happen pretty easily when you're careless. So it was this specific experience that buried the last remnants of negativity I had been bearing towards my partner. And this is the sign (among others) that you have truly forgiven.

What also helped was that I had to learn that there are indeed things that feel worse than being cheated on.

No at least not for me I don't need to forgive anybody

The cheating part I can handle that that's not a big deal to me the part that I can't handle

Is it each and every day they would come home and they talk to you as if nothing's going on and they play both roles like your dummy and you don't know anything and they act like they're not doing anything and it's a big lie it's a big con just everything comes out of their mouth is almost a lie and the way they're acting is a lie and they're cheating you and treating you like your dummy like you don't know anything and that's the part that pisses me off

That hurts my feelings more than her having sex with somebody is treating me like she's smarter than I'm a fool and that she's getting away with something that's the part I didn't like so I just had to see you

Forgiving someone does not mean condoning their actions or excusing their behavior. It's about releasing yourself from the anger, resentment, and bitterness that can consume you after a betrayal. Forgiving is the easy part, forgetting and rebuilding trust is far more difficult.

Yes but he would be someone else's problem. If I got cheated on, I wouldn't be in that marriage anymore. Forgiveness is simply not holding grudges or resentment, which are bad for your own mental health.

  • Forgiveness, my dear heart, is a complex journey, much like assembling IKEA furniture without instructions. 😉 Trust and love might take a hit when cheating enters the room, but healing is possible. It involves rebuilding trust, clear communication, and understanding the reasons behind the betrayal. It's crucial to set boundaries and decide if love is worth reigniting or if it's time to say "adieu!" Remember, forgiveness is a gift to yourself, so choose wisely! 🥰

It's possible but forgiving doesn't mean having them back in your life. You can forgive but still move on. They can work on being a faithful partner with someone else.

Nope. I think anyone that does, isn't really forgiving that person. They're simply deluding themselves. Because the REALITY is people do not cheat if they truly love you. When some gets cheated on and they forgive the person that cheated they're doing so because they eitherdon't want to accept reality or don't want to accept the reality that they were WRONG about that person.

Depends on the circumstances involved. When my ex cheated I was at the lowest point in my life back in 2023 battling cancer and taking care of my friend who was dying of cancer and looking for a place to live. She ran off and got engaged to an ugly out of work bum covered in tattoos plus she disrespected our boundaries way to many times in 2023 and 2022 and 2024. I try to remain civil but still hold deep resentment towards her

It’s possible, but I wouldn’t ever take them back. I wouldn’t ever be able to look at them the same way, the trust and respect would be completely lost.

I have no problem forgiving when I'm cheated on. My wife has been dating a side guy for two years. So long as she doesn't get pregnant, I see no problem if she wants to have some fun on the side.

    For women, I doubt it.

I hope you're not asking this because of personal experience.

My guess is that it's possible, but cheating always leaves a "stain" on the relationship, if that makes sense.
