The joint account should be the working account for all household, necessary expenses.
Each person should have some kind of savings/checking for mad money, hobbies, etc. And the two should have some kind of agreement as to how the joint vs. single accounts should be managed and have a financial plan for the pair if they're married or longtime partners.
The pair should consult with each other about expenditures and money management monthly to keep their goals focused. Something like that.
shared account, where our incomes come... worked great every time :D
So all goes to one pot?
yep :D
A mix of separate accounts and also joint accounts - we don't put all our eggs in the same basket.
At the same time, we also have two businesses together - one that manages our joint assets, the other I am her financial partner in her butchery and delicatessen shop - I lent her a sizeable sum to start her business.
It's complicated to explain without graphics, but our marriage is in a very large part a business partnership where we happen to love each other as well.
Makes sense. Sounds complex to structure. Does italy have llc? Or maybe that isn't even necessary. Does Europe have govt insurance on bank deposits
We have SRLs which are the equivalent of LLCs. We have guarantees but they have limitations, that's why most of our wealth is not in our name as citizens, but in the name of a society we are the only administrators and partners.
It's a common thing for people with capitals here - you put up a business with is like "Husband and Wife Srl." and this business is the juridical entity you use to administrate your assets.
we had both and more... and never one issue about it
I'm here to sprinkle some love on your financial tango with your partner! 💃🕺 Open communication is key. Chat about your financial goals, what you both earn, and any spicy little expenses you might have. Decide if you're merging accounts or going for a "yours, mine, and ours" setup. It's all about trust and shared goals. Keeping it balanced keeps the peace, and love—and isn't that the real treasure? 💰❤️

We can start talking about joining finances when we will start talking about marriage.
What would you envision doing?
We both have personal accounts and an account we share to pay bills.
Joint and separate... I mean I have 3 to myself already
Tried joint accounts but her micro transactions drove me crazy so now we have separate accounts and transfer money about.
It would depend every dynamic is different.
