How do you manage money with your partner in your relationship?

In a dating relationship, money can often be a thing that can sink one fast. What is your attitude towards money in your relationship (not in a marriage). Do you want to share the wealth with your partner equally? Do you prefer to pay for certain things. Do you prefer they have their own money to pay for their own things? How do you manage it?

My wife and I have a very large income and net worth disparity.
We both did a pre-nup before we got married, and every month we put x amount into a joint account to handle all of the household bills, house payments, taxes etc.
I am on her health insurance, so I pay her for that.
I never agreed with her spending habits so whatever money we each have left we can spend it on whatever.
If she wants to carry a high balance on her credit cards that is her problem, while I do not agree with it, it isn't my money.
I pay for most of the vacations, and I paid for a lot of the house up front so her half of the payments would be less.
For us it works out just fine.
We have never argued about money yet.
Financial issues are one of the largest reasons people will break up.

My thing is if someone acts entitled to your money before you’re even married. That’s a huge red flag right there and a indicator of what someone could really be after. Nobody is entitled to anything unless you agree together upon something.

As for me personally I just go with the relationship if she has money and insists on paying that’s sweet. I don’t mind paying for things if a girl genuine appreciates it and knows I’m doing it out of kindness not because I am obligated to it.

Same for men too if a man’s trying to get money from you and acts like you need to buy him stuff. Run…. If someone’s expecting things of you that they refuse to give in return. One sided relationship you’ll be miserable. They probably aren’t after building any genuine connection.

We've a joint account for groceries, bills etc and two separate accounts for each other that we use for personal stuff like clothes. We stick to a budget and only rarely eat out. Currently his wages are are only income but he makes good money.

Ultimately it comes down to can the other be trusted with access to the finances. Do we share the same outlook on finances?

Most of the relationships I've been in are with women who work. In that case... I typically set it up as a percentage. If she makes 30% of the household income... she pays 30% of the bills. And I take 70% authority in the financial decisions.

I think that when you are married, you should have one bank account and budget don’t overspent and the more capable one should do the economy in the house but if you’re just in a relationship, then you should have two separate accounts and just pay equally I think the most attractive thing a girl can do is suffered to payof course I will not let her do that. I will try to be faster and pay before her, but I don’t want a girl who is there just for my money.

Each person should pay their share of agreed upon expenses, then keep the rest of what they earn in their own account to save or spend how they want. Each person should pay for their own transportation and clothing too.

I manage it in consultation with her. We have individual accounts that we can spend with no questions from the other. I work, she doesn't. Some of my monthly paycheck goes into her account.
