What Flowers Should I Buy for My Wife?

I know flowers can seem cliche, but I really want to make her feel special. She’s always been more of a tomboy, and I’ve always been careful about what I get her because of her preferences. But now I want to step it up. I'm looking for flower options that feel more unique and meaningful, considering she doesn’t have a favorite, and taking into account our pets and her past reactions. Any suggestions for thoughtful, romantic flowers?

If not (which is common for most husbands) buy a colorful combination of flowers that will survive in a vase for at least a week. You can try roses but they don't last long before they lose color and start dropping petals.

Most important, see her reaction to whatever you buy, and make adjustments in your next purchase.

I learned, through a bit of trial and error, that my wife likes a medium size bunch of colorful flowers of different types, that she arranges the way she wants in a vase, and proudly displays them on the dining room table.

If you don’t know of a specific favorite she has, which it sounds like you do not, I would do roses. And specifically as far as colors, red means love and passion. Pink means gratitude, admiration and appreciation. White means purity, innocence and admiration. Yellow means friendship and cheeerfulness. Orange means energy and enthusiasm. Lavender means love at first sight, mystery and enchantment. Of course they really mean whatever they mean to her and to you, those are just how they are often interpreted. There are more colors but I will stop there I think that is enough options!

My advice would be either all red roses, or a mix of red, white and pink depending on what meaning you want to convey. JMO good luck!

You can get an assortment but make sure to avoid lilies and include at least a couple of pink/red roses. (Also keep in mind that yellow roses are usually more for friendship, not romantic.)


If she has simple outdoorsy tastes, a bouquet of Gerber flowers are nice. They look sort of like a boldly colorful a cross between daisies and sunflowers….
