How would you feel if your partner didn’t like the gift you bought them?

So I saw this post today and There’s a lot of debate about whether or not she’s wrong. I don’t think she’s wrong but she should’ve told him exactly what she wanted because he did ask. I’m the same way. I don’t like any of that stuff but I’m still grateful but I also don’t want to lie and say I like it when I don’t 😂. Save your money. That’s why I tell people don’t buy me anything. I like stuff I can actually use not something that’s gonna die, deflate, or sit around and collect dust.

In my opinion, that post is probably just attention-seeking and they set it up together for clicks.

Me personally, I'd be kicking myself that I didn't notice more details about him. That I completely misjudged his interests and didn't listen carefully enough when he spoke.

I follow a simple rule with gifts: I wouldn't get him stuff that I want him to have or that impose how I want him to be. I'd get things related to what he was interested in, whether I was interested in it or not. I find qualified people to ask about whatever I need info on, I give my price range, they give me options, I buy one, and voila! Perfect gift every time.

Applies to anyone we know, too. Gift-giving is a piece of cake when we take what we'd like out of the equation.

I'm to the point now where I just tell people what I want. Rather than be upset, if they ask "what do you want," I will tell them. Some people just never get the clue naturally, so you have to sometimes just tell them point blank and make your life and their own, easier. Even having said that, being appreciative is something you need to practice. So many girls would love even a single card, and they get nothing. The fact that he remembered the day, got you a bunch of stuff when he didn't have to, should be something where internally you might think, "this is awful and not what I want," but honestly, it is the thought that counts.

How clear was she? We don't know. Sometimes we're listening and the, "I said I didn't want anything" or " I don't want this kind of x" was really said as "You don't have to get me x if you don't want to."

Sometimes people aren't clear. Also sometimes on Valentine's day women say they don't want anything and then get mad if you do listen. We only have half the story here.

I've been in both situations and it can be very confusing. Some women aren't always clear when they speak. Other times they are. If she was very clear, I just don't agree with her attitude on the subject.

In today's day in age, the rules of how men and women that are in relationships are have become different than when I was your age or my parents were your age.

The difference is you have some women that still think it's ok to be treated like how my grandma was treated by a man in 1940-50s dating, my parents in the 70s, and anytime after 2000 it has changed again and prob more I the decades leading to today.

What a man "needs" to be for a woman is unclear and I do think young men today are not sure how to always interact because not all women have the same set of rules they expect men to engage and abide by.

I just don't like it when men or women, a woman in this instance speak to the other in terms like this. It's demeaning and honestly if they're not married, he doesn't need to get any gift, useless or useful. With an attitude like that, I wonder if she's ever asked herself how can she be better.

Maybe she has, I just can't tell my this cry baby rant.

Yeah, that's her fault.. She didn't tell him what she wanted, that's most of the Valentines gifts right there, and he probably knew she was gonna be mad if he got her nothing, so that's what he got her. I get she didn't want it, and thinks it's basic, but after that what else is there? I could see if she said "Oh, just a nice restaurant and to spend time with you" but, she expected something, acted spoiled about it, and then gets mad at him for at least trying.. This is why men don't do Valentines Day.. Spoiled sh! t like this..

It's okay if she doesn't like the gift lol, she doesn't have to like it. She can just say that it's not really her style. Then we can go look for something else together so that I get a better handle on what gifts she likes.

That said, she absolutely cannot disrespect me for giving her something she didn't like. That's incredibly immature. If someone I'm dating did that, she'd find herself freshly single within the hour.

Also, some people just don't particularly enjoy receiving any gift. That's fine too.

I dont get the deal with presents. People are way too focused on what they are getting. While you should truly be happy about the loving gesture that someone is giving you.

It happens, our anniversary is 3 days after valentines day so we celebrate our valaversary.
She didn't like what i got her for plan A.
No biggie, she did like her flowers and plan B.
I would rather have something she liked and would enjoy rather than just not using it.
