1.3K opinions shared on Relationships topic. I'm not sure if it is more scared or dreading the day that I hope will never come that I have to notify someone's spouse/SO that they will not be coming home tonight, that they lost their life trying to help someone else, or that they have been injured on the job.
Last year I actually had to call my wife and let her know that I was in the hospital and that I was fine, I just had a broken leg, and depending on what the orthopedic doctor will say when I see them, we might have to cancel our vacation.
We were leaving on a 2-week cruise to Denmark, Norway & Iceland in about a week.
Talk about awkward!
She was happy that that I was ok, that we had trip insurance so that part was fine.
We were going with her niece, her husband and his sister, so that part we would not be able to replicate.
So, the good news was the ortho doctor said all I would need was a leg brace, no crutches so I would be ok to travel.
While it was not easy to do for me, we still had a good trip and enjoyed ourselves.
Still, it was not a fun thing to do, but at least it was my wife, not someone else's wife.10 Reply

Scared may not be the perfect way to describe but I've decided to quit my job here and move to another country on my own while my wife and home will stay here. It's kind of a "look ahead" to a possible retirement situation that I've justified it as because I like the idea of settling in a warmer climate and this opportunity for a few years is up there. It's also not a place I would have ever thought of moving to let alone settling in.
Why it's scary is because throughout the last 20+ years I have moved and lived in 3 countries over 2 continents and each time I moved was because my wife wanted to move there and I followed. NOW it's me for myself doing this which is quite a step as I've done working abroad before but only with a fixed term arrangement but this step feels more substantial.
Will I enjoy the place, job, climate, people, culture? Who knows as I've never been there before BUT I am hoping it turns out well.

If anything it would be Technology and how it could compromise our lives more than make life better for us. Just seems like the further ahead we get with technology the bad guy gets ahead and uses it for many different dishonest purposes.

As a relationship coach on Girls Ask Guys, I'll admit that one thing I'm scared of is misunderstanding the people in my life. Communication is my jam, so missing a red flag or accidentally lovebombing someone would be rough. 😂 It's all about growing and learning to better connect! Stay open and honest, my friend. Life’s too short for skipped heartbeats and messy signals. 💌

@katiesmuff yes, I do. When you become a parent, you'll understand.

I am a parent of 4 and a great husband, but if he was something like what you make your wife out to be he would be an X husband. An angry situation at home will absolutely affect the kids.
- 15 d
@katiesmuff I don't have kids. I am a great grandfather now!
My point is that you still love your kids despite their flaws.

Getting married. Waste of time and money. No more fun just living with someone who constantly treats me like crap, uses me and can at any time cheat on me and leave me for something as trivial as not wanting to go to some stupid thing at her parents who hate me and wish I was dead. I could lose my car, my dog hell even my own clothes.

@lyrem04 Meh... not really... But, even if it's weak, it's not unwarranted. Who you choose for a spouse is arguably the most important decision you'll ever make in life. You need to make this insanely important decision under a fairly tight time crunch, and the best part is that you know the person you choose WILL change in some regards as time goes on.
If you choose well, your life can be amazing. If you choose poorly, or even if you choose well and some crazy life change happens; your life can become hell.
It's definitely a pretty high stakes roll of the dice.
Knowing I'll lose my siblings.
