Can you date someone with a very different diet than yours?

As in, for personal, ethical, health or religious difference.

For me it's never been a big deal, I'm a vegetarian, non-smoker and teetotaler while the women I hang out with eat meat, smoke and drink alcohol - it doesn't bother me unless they blow smoke in my face or kiss me with their mouth full of burger. In fact the reason I keep wines, liquor and meats at home despite not partaking is to offer them to guests; often in the evening I get tea while she enjoys wine or whiskey.

I think that it just takes a bit of maturity and I don't undestand how some people make dietary differences such a dealbreaker.
