I would say emotional affairs can even cut deeper then just a sexual one. Some affairs can be one or the other but many affairs are both. That’s the worst kind it’s wrong to cheat but some people cheat because they’re just horny and wanting sex they feel bad about it afterwards. It’s still wrong and you can’t come back from doing that but a emotional affair is just moving on to someone else while still married.

For a while people may pretend things are normal even over compensate so their spouse doesn’t catch on. But eventually they start pulling back. Refusing to have intimate relations. Being resentful and looking for a way out.

Like from what I see from the definitions, it seems to be having a deeper emotional connection / intimacy than your primary love partner so… Yeah it is a thing.

Perhaps yes. I think women see it worse than men though. Our woman sleeping with another guy is the equivalent to us being emotionally invested in another relationship instead of it just being a friends with benefits situation.
