What's the right type of flowers for the first (ever) date?

On the one hand their aesthetic matters and on the other you never know if the girl has allergies to the pollen produced inside the flower. So how to choose the right type?

If you know for sure she's not allergic, get something pink -- roses or even something simple like gerbers or peonies -- to let her know you see her as feminine. Stay away from flowers if you're not sure whether she's allergic. A guy friend of mine walked into my place before a date (she was meeting him there bc I had introduced them). Second she walked in to greet him her eyes were watering and she had to take a few extra minutes to go "fix her face" before going out. They left the flowers with me and I have horrid allergies as well, so one of my neighbors ended up enjoying them instead.

I got my friend and her boyfriend rum cake because the chances of allergies are much lower. You could also get her a box of Japanese cookies or Chinese desserts. A high end black or green tea from your birth country would also work. I mean a $40 jar of black tea, not the $5.00 boxes you find at gas stations.

I find it really weird to give a man advice, woman usually give woman advice, and men give men advice. But i will do my best with the advice, I like the orchidee flower. If a guy would buy that for me? I would find it thoughtful and original. So go for something original :-)

In my city, there are flower sellers. They are a bit annoying because there is implicit pressure to buy the girl you are with a rose but it does have good romantic content. Maybe check out for flower stalls where you are taking her. Don't ask if she would like one just buy it.
