Would it be weird if I got my boyfriend flowers, or do guys actually like that?

I’ve been thinking about surprising my boyfriend with flowers, but I’m not sure if he’d find it sweet or just awkward. He’s not super emotional, but he’s kind and thoughtful. Do guys appreciate that kind of gesture, or is it too much?

It’s a nice gesture for sure. But men usually don’t have the same reaction as women when it comes to getting flowers. I love flowers, but that’s cause as I’ve gotten older I’ve started growing them in my backyard for a number of reasons. One just seeing something grow is awesome. Two they bring bees around to pollinate my fruit trees as well as my vegetable garden. Three, I just like how they look. So I’d probably appreciate them more then most men cause like I said I grow them myself. I think you’re better off getting him something that he’’ll use almost daily, something intimate like a nice watch. Something for his car, some tool.

On the whole ANYTHING a man is given by a woman is warmly accepted BUT flowers for many would be a bit useless. Sure the smell and visual pleasure FOR A SHORT TIME is pleasant BUT it's not something most men WANT or value highly. Something else might be a wee note, or letter, card or special thing that can be kept forever because men so rarely receive gifts from others that are just acknowledgements of them. I for example have two small car notes from my wife that she left on the breakfast bar that has accompanied me every day to work in my laptop bag as well as on trips with messages she wrote me that have also got information scribbles about her business she wrote on the back. This is something MOST people would bin but the meaning behind them for me is much greater so I keep them with me as a reminder of her.

If you look at other species like bower birds and how they make these complicated nests to attract the females. They take colorful things from nature to adorn the nest. Also you'll find animals are often attracted to bright colors or shiny things. That's why flowers are bright, to attract pollinator species. If this strategy works with bower birds and other species it's probably in effect with human females as well. That's why the males give them flowers, they're drawn to the color and it shows the male can provide. It's sad and robotic when you look at it. I dont know how to awnser from a right or wrong aspect but I can say this if he is a good guy he will appreciate it because it came from a sweet girl (aka his girlfreind or you) if he is not a great guy the opposite and well even if it is lost on him its the thought that counts not the gift that is given
