It depends on the ages involved.

As one gets older, the acceptable gap increases. For example;

- 14: 1 year either way

- 16: say 2 years either way

- 20: 3,4 years either way

And so on.



Although, I think this trend hits a maximum at about the age of 40-45, after that the age allowance begins to decrease.

The aftermath was traumatic, at least for me. We're older now. In our forties. She called last year. Since SHE broke up with ME I was devastated. Now she calls with a sob story that the man she left me for was abusive. Well she had her chance. And I didn't wait around. Found someone else closer to my age. She was very angry when the ex girlfriend called. Told her never to call back and hung up on her. And - she never did call back.

As long as it's legal, I see no issue. My dad did it when he married his soon to be ex wife. She's exactly 10 years older than me, to the day, we have the same birthday. My dad is gonna be 46 this year, she's 31. =P I'm glad they're divorcing and he's with someone better, because she caused him a lot of hurt.

Rather than difference I pay more attention to the numbers them selves. I don't wanna see 12 year olds with 17 year olds, No 30+ goin' after 16 year olds etc.

I think that 10+ years is robbing the cradle if you're over 18. If you're under 18 I think like 4+ years... I think that's because my parents are four years apart and I see that as kind of normal
