9 moToo many people do that. They'll make money and status priority and then do a bunch of things for it that kills any and all happiness that they had or could've had.
And yeah sure they'll talk big game about how it makes them happy. But I don't believe it when I point out my 2008 kia ultima does everything for me that their Lexus does and I bout that shit straight up for 2k and just fixed everything on it and added shit like the reverse cameras and shit. Some of the bullshit in that little Kia is better because I did it myself. Quite literally does the same job their small house worth of money spent does... they're blowing money and don't even realize it. My cop car...8k, fixed it up and added all the shiznit and customized it, kept the car rams on the front... way cheaper than whatever they're driving and just as powerful usually with that v8. That's not the dig I'm making.
The dig I'm making is all that extra money they're blowing hasn't made them any bit happier than me and my cheap shit. It does the same job. And I guarantee all the work they had to do for that extra money to blow didn't make them any happier either. They could've bought a bad ass van life van, but instead they have a fucking shitty BMW... and they paid too much for it.
For me, the money is just money and I learned early on, my 1k Gucci watch IS NOT any better that a 39$ G-shock.
I'm just glad I made those mistakes in my early 20's and grew out of it hella fast despite the fact that I came from dirt. If the work you do doesn't make you happy... and the shit you buy with it doesn't make you as happy as me with my bullshit makes me... they're on the wrong hill to die on... and those of us that know, know why they're trying to brag about being so unhappy.
Reminds me of all those rappers that will brag about riches out one side of their mouth, and then mention all the shit that has their head fucked up out the other. It's not worth it...

9 moThe opposite. Although, I hate to admit it, over many years, I've come to realize they go hand in hand to an extent. With enough money, you don't have to worry about living expenses, food, recreation, or vacations. You can live life however you like. That takes away a lot of your stress that you have.
However, even knowing that, I'm the kind of guy that would happily take my dream girl and a happy and healthy family over a billion dollars any day if that question is ever posed to me.
And I don't think I need a ton to be truly happy. I'd be happy in a tiny house, away from society, a campervan to travel where I want in comfort and setup camp wherever I want, and to see my family and loved ones often.10 Reply

9 moPeople who say money doesn't buy happiness is usually the ones who have a lot of it and don't know how to manage it or use it properly.
Make me a millionaire and you will see a smile on my face probably almost everyday.
So while I don't prioritise status over happiness, I definitely do when it comes to money because I do believe money can bring you happiness.
My biggest goals in life are where I need money to do it. I want to travel all over the world and be able to get the best editor to edit my book so that I can publish it.
With money, all of that will be possible.10 Reply

As a relationship coach, I'm all about prioritizing happiness over money and status. Your shiny new yacht might turn heads, but does it give you those warm, fuzzy love vibes? Spoiler alert: probably not! Happiness is like the secret sauce that makes life flavorful. You can't deposit it in the bank, but it sure makes you rich in ways that count! Keep those love-tinted glasses on and sail towards joy, not just a fancier car. 😉

9 moHonestly, I try not to prioritize money or status over happiness.
Money and status can help make life easier or open doors, but they don’t guarantee real joy.
For me, feeling fulfilled, having good relationships, and doing things I love come first.
That said, sometimes I focus on money or status temporarily to build a foundation for long-term happiness.
How about you?11 Reply- 9 mo
Money helps you to survive but I definitely prioritise happiness over money always.
There should be a healthy balance — having enough money to enjoy life’s joyful moments, create lasting memories, and pursue the things you love, but not so much that you become consumed by the stress, responsibilities, or constant pressure of managing it. True wealth is measured not just in money, but in peace of mind and happiness.
10 ReplyHappiness is a fleeting emotion. It comes and goes. I prioritize money and status over happiness.
I don't think people should even bother seeking out happiness. Seek fulfillment and seek growth. Often stressful and uncomfortable, but in the long run, far more rewarding and satisfying then momentary happiness.
10 Reply456 opinions shared on Relationships topic. People that think money makes them happy are going to find out sooner or later that money doesn't make them happy when other things around them are going wrong.
Having no money on the other hand does make people unhappy.
So money is only a tool to have a more comfortable lifestyle but when or example your loved one passes away which makes you sad and depressed... money won't be capable of making you happy again10 Reply5.2K opinions shared on Relationships topic. I prioritize money over everything because all of my problems and stress stem from not having enough money.
Hard to be happy when bill collectors and banks are ( fugitively) constantly knocking at your door when it's a real possibility you might lose your house and everything you own. When there's never enough food or gas or this or that.
Money doesn't buy happiness but it does buy finical security and a chance to breath and I need both those things badly.

9 moI don't care about money more than what I need to live on, which isn't much. A minimum wage job is more than enough to live on. And status is something I don't think I've even once in my life thought about. So I guess that leaves happiness.
10 Reply 370 opinions shared on Relationships topic. I don’t prioritize them
But I know how to make money
I know how to create status
But I still don’t know how happiness is truly achieved
So for now I fight the winning battles not the losing ones10 Reply
9 moI don't think that money and status make someone happy. Many people seem to think that status and a huge salary will bring them everlasting happiness, but personal problems will always follow you whether your rich or poor.

10 Reply4.3K opinions shared on Relationships topic. Yes because money tends to fulfil our basic needs and also can solve problems at times.

Anonymous(45 Plus)9 moThis question is worded wrong. Because I do prioritize money. But not for status. I could give less than a damn what people outside of my loved ones think about me. As the Bible says, "you cannot worship God and mammon (material wealth)". But money IS a necessary evil in this world. So I prioritize money for security and peace of mind. But all money is to me is a tool. I have God my loved ones, and the breathe in my lungs. That is all I need and God provides the rest.

Anonymous(45 Plus)9 moStatus, no. That’s just an illusion for the vain. Money though brings freedom and that was important, less so now. I didn’t sacrifice happiness as much as I learned to be happy with less for a while.
