Something that happened that left a lasting memory worth a lifetime.

Before I ever started a business or did much of anything, I felt trapped. I worked so hard to put myself in a position where I had resources to work with but everything would blow up in my face every time.

A really bad point in my life while I was working at a small place owned by these two Italian brothers and I was going through a heartbreak, I kept having to go in the back so I didn't lose my composure.

Then my boss walked up to me and I was so afraid he'd send me home but best I can remember he said "I grew up around rich people my whole life, my neighbor would start up his farrari every morning at exactly 7am, it was unreasonably loud... It wasn't like it was his only car. But what are you going to do? He paid for it, it's not illegal. His parents were surgeons, he became a lawyer, I went to school with his kid who never got a job and never will.

I grew up with people who seemed like they had nothing to complain about and they killed themselves with drugs. I've seen people who did everything wrong and ended up with everything they wanted and I've seen people who did everything right and end up homeless with no family.

The problem is people these days think because they work hard, they deserve to be happy, but the world doesn't owe anyone anything and there's no one holding a gun to God's head telling him to make life be fair"

He knew all about what I wanted to do with my life. He told me I have to decide what I'm willing to put into something that doesn't have to give me anything back. And it was a really special moment for me because this guy was the reason I even had a good work ethic in the first place. And it was the first time I felt like I was beginning to understand how to look at life.

He was trying to convince me to stop killing myself but all he did was give me the confidence to get back up and not care if I get knocked down again. He helped me see that if you only focus on the destination you'll always be miserable. You can find things worth moving for even when you feel like you're stuck in shit.

Maybe I can't control how my story goes, but I can control what I spend my time and energy on now. Can't say I have too many regrets.

when my husband proposed to me at the mcd's the day the mcflurry came out! he knew i wanted it so bad and he put it at the end of the spoon so i couldn't tell it was there until the first bite! and he got the guy that play's the intersection to be there to play a song to celebrate! i didn't realize this was all for me because i thought we were having a party for one of my sons. i knew it didn't make sense at the time, but i'm not turning down a party and a mcflurry release day!

So very many moments flash through my mind. All the regrets. Being to close to something that when life givens you two random choices and you consistently choose the wrong one, unaware at the time. It's not humbling. It's cruel. Especially if it is at another's detriment. It makes you feel there are no lessons to learn in this life if it's all random and causes so much damage.

After the birth of my Son which is a pretty trite answer but true. I will say my 20's crazy girlfriend we were at a beach party, and spontaneously went skinny dipping in the ocean with her friend. They started making out. Then she turned to me and asked me to join them. There was my life before that and after.
