What do you think men are seeking in women to have a relationship with? And vice versa what do you think women are looking for in a man to have a relationship with. Please try and leave sex or money out of it because we all know that’ll come later in any relationship. And be honest when answering this question. Because I believe there are lots of men as well as women that would like to be in a good relationship but probably are not in one only because of all the bullshit that the opposite sex is trying to show the other what they have instead of being themselves in the way of saying what they feel or being who they really are instead of pretending. I have a few friends that are good guys but try to be someone they’re not. My son who is a 25yr old La county firefighter go’s through girlfriends like my wife and I go through socks. However our daughter who just graduated college has had the same boyfriend since HS and plan on getting married in June of 2026. So what is your opinion?

Honestly, I think men and women want a lot of the same things in a relationship but people today are so busy performing, pretending, or trying to impress that they forget how to just be real. Most men aren’t looking for perfection; they want peace, loyalty, respect, and someone who makes them feel safe enough to open up without being judged. Men thrive when they feel appreciated and supported not when they have to act “tough” all the time.

And most women want emotional safety too. They want consistency, honesty, loyalty, kindness, and a man who shows up for them the same way they show up for him. Not money or looks just stability, respect, and a best-friend type of connection where they can laugh, grow, and feel seen.

The reason a lot of relationships fail now is because people are scared to be vulnerable. Men feel pressured to act “alpha,” and women feel pressured to look perfect meanwhile, everyone’s hiding their real feelings. Like you said, some genuinely good guys lose themselves trying to be someone they’re not, and that pushes away the right people. And then on the other side, you have people like your daughter and her fiancé, who built a relationship on real connection, honesty, and knowing each other’s hearts from the start and that’s why it’s lasting.

At the end of the day, people don’t need to flash what they have or play roles. Men want to feel respected and appreciated. Women want to feel emotionally safe and valued. And both want someone who is real with them. That’s why the strongest relationships come from authenticity, not performance.

I can't speak for others but I know what I want. Love, honesty, loyalty, open and clear communication, and sincerity. These California girls were sincere when I was young, but now the women are just a bunch of wishy washy poor communicators.

Most women are looking for personality, kindness and compassion, respect, intelligence, a sense of humor, honesty and integrity, good communication skills, and shared interests and values. Anything else is just a bonus.
