Long term relationship?

context: been in a relationship for 5 years, no house, no ring. we live together. Im not happy and I did step out of the relationship (yes I feel horrible) not asking for sympathy because I KNOW I chose to cheat. I know this means I don't care about my relationship. He is a good man and wants to work on this but I can't anymore after what I did. can we overcome this? do I stay and work on it?

It is not clear he knows you cheated. I think although cheating might be nominally forgiven it is never forgotten and there is always going to hurt issues and trust issues forever.

I therefore think a relationship is irreparably damaged by cheating. On your side you probably don't have respect and it seems you feel guilt. A cocktail of emotions forever in your relationship.
