Having her boyfriend there is to maintain constant respect for him and to remind you that she’s happily taken. Not to be rude but in all honesty it was foolish to confess your feelings knowing she was in a relationship in the first place, because what did you expect? Her to leave her relationship for you? Is that really even how you’d like to obtain a woman? Come on.

Most likely to just clear the air. I personally had to have that same conversation with an ex-good friend of mine back in 2021 when I was first dating my now-fiancé. He thought this friend had feelings based off the things I would share with him once we’d hang out, so I casually told him I’d confirm he did not. Turns out my fiancé was correct. I offered to still be friends, but things eventually changed. Not saying your situation is like mine whatsoever, just sharing a reference point.

Honestly, only time will tell but I would personally advise you create some space while you get over your feelings. Would you really feel ready to hang out with her and her boyfriend? Watch them together, advise her about him, etc? Because that’s what comes with friendship and if you really like her then I feel like you would suffer. I think you’d be better off creating some space to get over your feelings then re-exploring friendship at a later point in time.
