Guys: do you ever say "I love you" in a joking way to a girl you are interested in?

It's pretty confusing. "Love" has so many different meanings: "I love corn," "I love you romantically," "I love you as a friend," "I love my mother," "I love what you said just now," etc.

There's a guy I've been talking to for a couple months and it's pretty clear he likes me (considering he asked me out). We were texting just now and I sent him "I'm not really into sports but I like video games about them" and he replied "I love you. :)" That's the first time he's ever said that. I played it off like he was joking (I HOPE he was joking) but he hasn't replied much since then. He wasn't serious was he? I mean, who says it for the first time over text? And because I said I like something he likes? We've only hung out once! >.<

And if he WAS serious... what should my course of action be then?

Soooo, considering i can't find it on the internet, and you are a girl, i had this situation with a girl i like, she is nice and sweet, and Looks great, and we can have good conversations and laugh together, but a few days ago she sent me that she liked me, and i said i liked her too, then she did not respond for 4 hours and after those 4 hours she said it were her friends, and that she still wanted to be friends, did she do this jokingly, or were it really her friends, as i have had this before, and we Just lost contact after that, and i dont want this to happen again, but other People say that she May have done this because she is unsure/shy/wants attention etc, and since you are a girl and i can't find it anywhere, can you please tell me whether you would or have ever done so, it would help a lot, thanks

Not really. If its a girl I'm interested in, of course I might feel/think I'm in love with them, but I won't say off the top of my tongue so easily.

If I say it, then I mean it 200%. I don't half ass nothing.

But to say like " I love that show" or " I love the way you talk" Maybe its justifiable but not to say " I love you as a friend" That will never come out of my mouth unless I had feelings for her.

Hes probably kidding or he's a flirt, or both.

that sounds like what people say when you say something really cool. like when a girl I know asked if I liked her shoes and I said yes and she said,''I love you!'' and I knew that meant she really like what I said. but if he was serious, jus tell him slow down if it bothers ya.

I'm taking some medication that makes me say weird things. kind of like I'm drunk and then I messaged my ex who has a boyfriend now and told her that I love her. It was strange.
