Is it creepy when a guy you just met calls you baby, and beautiful?

This guy just met me, he said he had been seeing me around campus and finally decided to talk to me. We talked then he started saying I was beautiful. is this creepy or is he a straight forward guy?

Maybe it's just me but there's a norm that you just don't call pet-names someone you just met!

Though it could be different in America, where people are more open and warm, many foreigners have blamed people here on the Northern Europe for being too "cold" and "distant"

There's already a version he wants to get into your panties - but seriously - this trick is so lame and overused it has lost all of its sharpness - what kind of a girl would fall for that anyway?

So I guess there are only 2 options - he:

-is an idiot as socially impaired

-really believes you're that naive

"Baby" is probably the weirder/ creepier of the two. The issue of "beautiful" is how it is used. A general compliment i.e "You're really beautiful" is far less creepy than it being used as a title/ address, i.e. "hey beautiful". Using either baby or beautiful as titles or nicknames tend to be reserved for previously established relationships.

I don't think one could draw an accurate conclusion to the question of is HE creepy, at least not yet.

I think he's trying way too hard to be flirty. He's trying to charm you with flattery, but the "flattery" he's using is a little sickening, gets old, and seems annoying. I don't know about you, but I only like being called those things by a guy when it's sincere! If he's doing it all the time, then it doesn't seem very sincere at all. I would get so tired of hearing that if I were you! If he only says it once, then it's okay, but if he's saying it all the time, then he's doing too much and he may think you are attractive, but he's kinda just ass kissing to get in your good graces.

I find it weird and off-putting yes. As a joke it's fine, but seriously...no. I don't like someone to call me that unless they've admitted feelings for me, or we've known each other a while, or we're dating/on the point of dating.

If it was me I'd have found it flattering but straight forward. Beautiful is one thing, baby is another. Beautiful is a term of appreciation...baby is more of a close affection term.

If,he calls you Baby and Beautiful you just met is the creepiest tricks to get a girl in your pants and the way he's talking he's just trying to make your thoughts oblivious for him and let him get in your pants that's what he's trying.

I will admit, when I talk to girls online, I do call them "honey"...I will admit that I am a flirt.

However, in the real world, I would never do that. That gives of an obsessive impression.

i think if he said your beautiful ONCE that's fine it can be a genuine compliment but if he says that and other pet names every time he sees you then yea its creepy and cheesy and trying to hard and not believable.
