Like in fights and all. Prehistorically, women used to instigate fights between men to choose who would be the stronger to mate with. Many times in the prehistoric times it was actually to the death. Now that doesn't happen but women still instigate men to fight over them for the attention and to choose who they would pick between the two. Naturally it seems like women say they don't like violence but you would rarely see them making an effort to stop violence between men as compared to starting one. Is it true that women love seeing men pound on each other? Regardless of the consequences of someone seriously getting hurt? During ancient Rome time with the gladiators and all, I've read that women would go sneak after each matches to have sex with the gladiators because they were so turned on by them. Even though back then it was considered a shame to have sex with someone who was of a complete low class and a slave like gladiators. Anyways women, please be honest and don't lie. Answer anonymously if you think you might be judged. Do you find men fighting each other and hurting each other turn you on? Fights between men are like 100 times worse than fights between women and I've heard of guys dying due to blows leading to internal bleeding and all. And girls, if there was a fight between guys to the death would you sit back and enjoy watching or wouldn't like that? I'm just curious.

There is a lot of scientific data suggesting that women are more turned on by good fighters than lousy ones, and that women slept with gladiators on a relatively frequent basis. However, this doesn't mean that women are turned on by fighting or fighters by themselves.

To understand why a woman would encourage two fighters to fight so that she could pick the winner you need to understand how the world was from a perspective of a woman. Much of our evolution as human beings came from rape, and is a partial explanation of why we grown taller and stronger as a species. During the period in which the gladiator games were popular, it was generally a given that if a city was conquered the men would be executed and the woman relegated to being sex slaves to the victors.

This is all amplified by the fact that women lacked the combat training that men have, and the weapons of the period being limited to mostly swords and stones heavily favored those with strength. Modern technology has certainly reduced the requirement of being a good hand-to-hand fighters, but being stronger even has a survival value today. Consequently, women were not in a good position to protect themselves.

The life of a sex slave was not an easy one - they were routinely beaten and often killed along with their children. The most basic internal drive of any human being is survival, and being with a strong male increased this rate of survival. The bottom line is that if A can kill B than A has a better chance of protecting his family from C. It's only logical for someone less confident in their ability to defend themselves to select A over B.

Moreover, there is a social standing element of it. Fighting was highly prioritized in these cultures, and a great fighter held more prestige which may have attracted women. In addition, being a good fighter is a fairly good sign of having good genes.

It's different today because technology has largely reduced the advantage of being good in one on one combat, and men who engage in such combat are far likelier to wind up imprisoned, thus generating more risk than reward for women. Therefore, one would surmise that the preference for the physically better fighter will slowly depreciate over time. However, just because women may sexually prefer the winner of a fight to the loser does not mean she's turned on by violence. Hope this helps

I'm not an anthropologist, but I am curious about your sources for this prehistoric information. Where'd you hear all that, because I'm pretty sure that prehistoric means before records were kept.

I'm not disputing that men have fought over women, it just seems like the way you explain it is a bit off. In the animal kingdom, females don't instigate fights, the males fight, and the victor takes whatever female(s) he wants. The females don't go out and say, "hey you, beat that guy to death and you can have me".

Also, there is a fairly common phenomena in nature where the animals that are evolved to be the best killers, are generally reluctant to kill members of their own species, thus hierarchical challenges and dominance battles in many species rarely result in death. Now, man is not a highly evolved predatory killer, so that may not bear as true in our case. Nevertheless, within primate societies, the member of the small troops seldom harm their counterparts, because the goal is survival at the group level. A troop will go to war and slaughter a neighboring troop, but murder within the group is decidedly rare.

Back to the point, I don't see how anyone can claim to know the mating habits of prehistoric man in any detail. And not all Gladiators in Rome were slaves or even of a lower social class. It wasn't unusual for elites to step into the arena, most were trained military men killing untrained slaves and peasants. Those guys were treated like rock stars, and sex was plentiful for them because they were celebrities, not because fighting is sexy. To put it another way, Justin Bieber could have sex with anyone he wants, not because his music is sexy, but simply because he's famous, and portrayed by everyone as a celebrity sex symbol.

I think it's completely disgusting! I remember back to my clubbing days seeing for the first time women who were corrupt and devious enough to pull this $hit! One in particular was a very beautiful, sexy girl who had such a black heart she would very often set two guys up by dating them both and telling them she loved them, of course having sex with them, lying constantly to them etc and neither guy knew about each other. After they were thoroughly set up she would then lie and say that guy has been bothering me and sexually harassing me and would cry blah blah, and actually get these huge guys to fight with each other sometimes with very serious results! I will never forget when she did this to some new guys and when they were squaring off with each other late outside this club and it looked like some horrible fight was going to go down, she turned her face towards me and her eyes were shining bright with excitement and she was smiling, looking forward to the show she created. I left disgusted and never spoke to her again. This was a long time ago and I hope karma caught up with her real good! I cannot imagine being so emotionally bankrupt that this would be how I have to get my kicks. I never stayed to watch these fights. Just gross to me.
Moral of the story guys: Do not be egged on to fight under any circumstances! The only time I'd be worth it to fight is if you actually had to physically protect your girl or yourself.

Lol I don't get turned on by that. More like the opposite. If it was ever a situation where my boyfriend were to defend me and have my back on a particular altercation, then yeah, it would make me feel good seeing that he actually cares. But, for no apparent reason, because the other person was "sh*t talking", that's just petty. Everybody is always going to have something to say, but what, are you going to fight everyone who's going to say something you may not agree with? No. Because that means you're in need of anger management and I don't want to be with someone who has anger problems. That can easily be reflected towards me. Plus, there's other ways of handling situations without violence. I don't know why that's the number one thing to jump to, It never solves anything.

Do you really have any evidence that prehistoric men fought to the death for sexual rights? A lot of what you are saying sounds like historic erotica...Fiction. From what I understand, men were more likely to use resources (protein -- meat) to try to get sexual access to women ... showing that he could provide for their children together.

Some guys who fight have girlfriends and all that ... but its usually IN SPITE of his violent nature, not because of it.

Personally, I AM super turned on when a guy can negotiate a conflict between him and another guy or even between two other guys. Seeing a guy use his brains and words to work out an agreement is incredibly sexy to me.

I can't stand men who fight all the time and I have never instigated a fight. I dated a guy once when every time we'd go out he would get into a fight. I wasn't impressed by it at all, I would become more annoyed than anything and I eventually dumped him because of it. I don't care for drama. Most young girls like the popular guys, and the popular guys beat up the weak, not so popular guys. And the girls take their side, not because they like it. But because they like the popular guy.

I think social changes influence it. We don't need to fight anymore.

If I saw two men fighting, I would assume that they're both arrogant, egoistic, igorant etc. They are unable to control their temeper and get wound up over silly things, one of them retaliates and can't walk away or remain calm in conflict, and the other causes fights when they get angry.

Women prefer gentlemen. Think of Luke from Confessions of a Shopaholic. That sort of man is really attractive. Respectable.
