Introduction:

The tithe which is 10% and often a bit more sometimes which was added was a commandment God gave the ancient Hebrews when they inherit the promise land.

The tithe was givin only by men who owned farms and had plenty of livestock.

The tithe was a form of welfare system to be givin to the tribe of Levi which where priests who did not receive a inheritance of land, but their job was to do religious services of the tabernacle such as animal sacrifices for sin etc, to be givin to the poor alien in the land, the widow and fatherless children for them to eat.

Somehow and someway wicked disgusting men decided to take the tithe and converted to mean money, and money which should be givin to the chruch (Pastor) 😡

These greedy men have lied and stolen so much money from ignorant Christians who hardly ever read their Bibles to actually know what is the tithe and what is what for.

In this Mytake I will expose the whole truth about the tithe and how false teachers twist some scriptures to rob the ignorant of their money.

Fear And Guilt.

One major tactic false teachers use to gain access to your money is fear and guilt.

They twist scriptures out of their context to manipulate and deceive the ignorant to givin them 10% of their weekly pay checks plus offerings.

The main scriptures false teachers love using is Malachi 3:8-12 to swindled the ignorant and stupid out of their money.

Malachi 3:8-12: Is being addressd to the specific nation of Isreal only.

God is warning them through his prophet Malachi that they better start givin the tithe (Food) and bring it into the storehouse which He commaned them lest He cursed them meaning the ground by whitholding rain from the crops.

And promised He will take care of the insects from destroying their crops if they give.

If you read the when God started pouring rain during the flood in Genesis you will see where it says the windows of heaven is a metaphor for rain.

False teachers use this scripture to instill fear into their congregation by convicing them that something bad is going to happen to them if they don't give money that belongs to God. Disgusting. 😡

Malachi 3:8-12:

“Will a man rob God?

In tithes and offerings.

But if the journey is too long for you, so that you are not able to carry the tithe, or if the place where the Lord your God chooses to put His name is too far from you, when the Lord your God has blessed you, then you shall exchange it for money, take the money in your hand, and go to the place which the Lord your God chooses.

And you shall spend that money for whatever your heart desires: for oxen or sheep, for wine or similar drink, for whatever your heart desires; you shall eat there before the Lord your God, and you shall rejoice, you and your household.

You shall not forsake the Levite who is within your gates, for he has no part nor inheritance with you.

“At the end of every third year you shall bring out the tithe of your produce of that year and store it up within your gates.

And the Levite, because he has no portion nor inheritance with you, and the stranger and the fatherless and the widow who are within your gates, may come and eat and be satisfied, that the Lord your God may bless you in all the work of your hand which you do.

Christian Giving.

We as Christian are not under the old covenant of the Hebrews.

Moreover, we are commanded as well to give, but not with a specfic determined amout as the people of the old covenant, but rather cheerfully and not grudgingly as to how much you desire to give wheather be $1, $100 or whatever you have to give wheather be a jacket or sweater etc.

Proverbs 19:17:
He who has pity on the poor lends to the Lord,
And He will pay back what he has given.

2 Corinthians 9:1-8:

Now concerning the ministering to the saints, it is superfluous for me to write to you; for I know your willingness, about which I boast of you to the Macedonians, that Achaia was ready a year ago; and your zeal has stirred up the majority.

Yet I have sent the brethren, lest our boasting of you should be in vain in this respect, that, as I said, you may be ready; lest if some Macedonians come with me and find you unprepared, we (not to mention you!) should be ashamed of this confident boasting.

Conclusion:

The Lord Jesus warned people about false teachers are wolves in sheep's clothing callng ravenous wovles.

The definition of ravenous means greedy.

75% of all pastors are wicked, deceiving greedy men who only desire every dime and dollar you have in your wallet and purse.

You must be aware of them, especially all the ones on TV. Those are the main thieves and liars.

I feel lucky that nothing about giving money to my churches was tied to how much God would love me or manipulative nonsense like that.

I'm going to give some examples: We as a community had goals. We wanted to keep our historic pipe organ in good working order. We wanted to repair the roof in the fellowship hall. We wanted to keep the parsonage in good working order because we rented it out. We wanted to remodel the fellowship hall bathrooms so that there were showers and laundry facilities for the homeless. We wanted to continue to pay the sign language interpreter. We discussed how much money was needed for those things with the whole congregation. The congregation responded with what they felt they could sensibly give. People of means probably gave more - I know some did. We kept the books open. Any member of the church was invited to come count donations or anything they wanted so they saw what money was coming in. When a member left a large grant in her will, we all discussed what to do with it and then we got the fellowship hall remodeled so we could serve the homeless. We deal in stewardship of the church and it's mission though, not in tithing to make God happy.

Even a group as small as an AA meeting has needs for which members need to pool a bit of money.

I think prudently funding the congregational needs is one thing and tithing is another. And it's just wrong to tie charitable giving to salvation. Yes, you may have people in your congregation who could give more, but you have to assume that most people have good intentions and will give what they feel they can. And you have to have good intentions for the funds.

I distrust the motivations of mega churches. I don't think all stewardship of a church is motivated by wrong things though.

I agree with you that tithing until it hurts, and churches really manipulating people into tithing are pretty shameful.

In ancient days it was livestock but livestock was also used as currency. In certain periods through ancient Israel, there was not a standard currency and everything was on the barter system, so for a farmer his money literally was his livestock and his crops. It doesn't take a twisted man to turn it into money.

However you are right in that many twisted men have robbed from Christians. It is very sad to hear how much some pastors make (for the record when I was preaching I only took $10 thousand dollars a year from 3 churches combined). And to go even further than your post, it's not just for these wicked men's retirement, but for their legacy. In the age of 'Mega Churches' giving has become a means for leaders to cement their legacy in extravagant building much like in the corrupt time of the catholic church. It breaks my heart to know that two of my friends refuse to give to their church because they don't want their money wasted on frivolous spending by their irresponsible leaders. Luckily there are many amazing Christian organizations in our area who feed, shelter and otherwise care for the down trodden and unfortunate of our area.

It is paramount when considering a church to look at the heart of it's leadership. I remained at the church I used to pastor because we give an unbelievable amount of our income directly to the misfortune of the area and to many organizations who assist them. While the current pastor makes more than double what I used to make (but now from only 2 churches) it is a far cry from a church who pays their pastor 6 figures to ensure they have the latest and greatest projectors in the sanctuary.

While this is a good post, it is very tainted with a jaded heart which may mislead some. Christianity and Pastors are not as wretched as you make them out to be. But it is important to look past the worship band and the lights and sound system when finding a church home because all of that was bought with your 'Tithe' while the public goes hungry.

While my church puts on free meals, and works with organizations to further feed, cloth, provide shelter and other means of love to the less fortunate, you won't see us on T. V. In fact you may not see us at all in 20 years as we dwindle in numbers to sub 40. Because simply put, we aren't sexy. Our tithe's go towards God's will.

I'm sorry I didn't understand how upset you were initially, I don't mean to be combative but there are periods through ancient Israel without coins and currency. Unfortunately that is not 'crap'. Abraham is actually believed to have lived in the period when Israel transitioned from the barter system into using metals. Genesis 21:28-30 actually shows Abraham paying Abimelech in lambs. But Genesis also tells us Abraham was rich in silver and gold. You may be confused with the shekel, but it wasn't really a coin, it was a weight of silver, gold, or any other metal used for payment. However, the 'coins' you reference are not referred to in the Bible, nor have there ever been any found in Israel dating back farther than the 7th century BC to my knowledge when Israel slowly became Hellenized first by the introduction of Greek merchants. it is also worth noting that while you don't like the tithe, Jesus called us to rise above the minimum set in the old covenant. While this is a challenge for many people it is something you could be glad your pastors don't preach more on. In fact you should take a look at how the earliest church handled finances and possessions in Acts. It was very common for many early christians to give everything including their homes and land to the church to be divided out as needed to the less fortunate because remember many early apostles didn't have/use homes as they were constantly traveling delivering the Good News. The most important thing though, I believe, is that as you stated, you don't give out of necessity, but God loves a cheerful giver. but mind you Jesus was a challenging man, and he isn't calling us to give up to where we feel comfortable, but rather to be encouraged to open our hearts wider to those in need. Some pastors are wolves, but all pastors are called to encourage.

No my point was never that the tithe was a barter system, rather that livestock was also used as currency because periods of isreal used the barter system. Therefore if God asked for livestock which was used as currency, then it's also fair to ask modern people for cash which is used as currency. But anyway, if you are uncomfortable with giving money, I think it would be fantastic to give a generous tithe in the form of food to your local food bank or clothes to your local thrift shop. The needs of every community are varied and plentiful. And as you said sometimes something is too much to carry so we exchange it for coin. Giving coin to send to those in need is a great way to live out God's commands. That is a very great point. I love that in your hurt from pastors you still look to give and love. Amazing! I pray God restores your faith in pastors because while some are ravenous wolves, some are amazing men (or women) of God who have helped me grow closer to God :)

I agree that the churches use this teaching to scam people honestly.

Tithe was to support the work in the church so God's people could be supported and cleansed of sins continuously, and also learn / practice the mystery of the new covenant.

Tithe is only 10% and is nothing honestly. If you can't even give 10%, you're just a greedy person.

This was regarding money, in which the Pharisees were trying to trick Jesus into saying that their tax money should go to God and not Ceasar.

The New Covenant Law Jesus taught is so obvious that tithing was common sense to the Apostles and early believers. Tithe was used to maintain the various churches, which was expressed as giving as was needed and the Apostles weekly trips to "collect" what believers had set aside.

The New Covenant isn't about Law, its about the fulfillment of the Law via Christ.

Jesus told the religious leaders not to neglect tithe (Matt 23:23,) but also focus on the meaning / fulfillment of the regulation - not just keeping the law in and of itself.

2.) Now tithe is NOT supposed to go to any pastor, in fact, tithe is supposed to be presented to Melchizedek.

I wonder about that hard 10% number. According to this, (https://echurch. com/20-bible-verses-about-tithing/), tithing should be effectively 23% if all rituals are practiced. And mathematically, I read the 10% comes from making sure all 12 of the original tribes of Israel got ALMOST equal shares in what each produced after the Levites tithed themselves: (11 Tribes*10% of production/tribe)/11*production/tribe*90% after tithing=9% net share of total production for the Levites and 8.18% (90%/11) for the remaining tribes. It leaves the question open, what happens with the tithings of the Levites, or the remaining 1% of total production? And as the tribes of Israel grew or more tribes were added, did the Levites grow in proportion to supply religious services? As more tribes are added, mathematically speaking, the share of total production for each tribe diminishes while it stays the same for the Levites. Was scaling necessary with economies of scale (stadium scale sacrifices and rituals or like massive Evangelist congregations)?

I see nothing wrong with tithing money. Money is a representation of the fruits of our labor. Why do you suppose "In God We Trust" is printed on notes? It's faith based currency that increases fungibility through liquidity. It stimulates the economy by facilitating trade instead of having a complex bartering system where 1 cow may be directly traded for 50 chickens. Plus, if you take that option away, what does a church do with say 30 days of accounting services? Or 100 farm animals? Or 1000kW-hrs of electricity? Or 1000 cases of soda? Or 3/4 of a vehicle? Or 100 tons of mined gravel? Or 300 man hours of insurance sales (don't forget the associated opportunity cost)? Or 10,000 tons of scrap metal? Or 50 barrels of crude oil? These are all technically fruits of many people's labors.

And here's another question, should you tithe net or gross income? Someone made a point about Caesar and the Phariseans using tithing as an excuse for exemption from state taxes when Jesus said to pay Caesar what was owed to Caesar. But does the Church not benefit from services provided by state taxes while being tax exempt? And are taxes considered the fruits of our labor or are they a necessary expense to acquire our fruits? I don't believed the Israelites tithed their equipment, tools, or labor.

The church I go to has a tithing thing where the members are encouraged to give a certain amount to the church, but I only give what I feel like giving (which is still a pretty good deal!). Our Pastor is a good guy. He certainly doesn't live lavishly. I fact, he's retiring in six months, and I wish he'd stay.

I presume the money I give goes to a good cause, but even if it doesn't, it's on them, not on me. Same thing with giving some money to some homeless guy on the street. I know full well that guy could be spending that money on cheap booze and cigarettes, but what matters is that God sees me helping someone who's asking for help.

I believe in titheing and I also believe that a lot of preachers take advantage of their members. I remember when a well known megachurch pastor was asking his members to give so he could get a private jet. A pastor a church nearby was just fired because he was using church funds to pay for his divorce lawyer and was giving presents to his mistress. I think giving to the church is an important part because donations are the only way some small churches stay open.

I'd actually never put a whole lot of thought into it-nor have I really tithed. I'm glad I read this actually; it was humorous and informative- I've always grown up where the church demands tithes.

Great take! 👏 Jehovah Witnesses are also Christians but they don't practise tithing. They put a contribution box in one corner of their kingdom halls and they are free to contribute any amount they want. Contribution is optional.

The tithe didn't start with the promised land. It was first mentioned with Melchizedek, long before the promised land. And it wasn't just for farmers.
