Yes, I have done an in depth study in to different aspects of religion. There are some religions that are women positive like Wicca which focuses on the maternal and feminine aspects of women and nature. And then there are more masculine and patriarchical religions like Christianity , Judaism , and Islam.
In the case of Judaism I will discuss the Tradition of Midraj and the Lilith Myth. In Genesis, God first creates woman from the same earth as man , then a second time from Adam’s Rib. Rabbi’s use Midraj to fill in the holes of the text so They assumed Adam was Married before Eve and that his first wife was Lilith. She demanded equality as she refused to let Adam dominate her so she spoke out Gods name Three times and became a baby eating demon.
In the case of Christianity there is more female positivity in the Gnostic Gospels. These aren’t considered cannon and they are banned books , as the church persecuted the Gnostics after defining the Cannon in the Council of Nicea. One of these lost gospels is the Gospel of Mary Magdalene in which Christ shares secret knowledge with her and makes her a leader in the community. In Catholicism and other Christian Deniminations Mary Magdalene is nothing more than a Prostitute who follows Jesus. As a former Catholic women are expected to be miore virtuous like Mary mother of Christ and pure , and there are very few positive role models for women in the Bible. Women are seen to be either pure like Mary or evil like Delilah , Jezebel and Salome.
In Islam women stand at the back of the Mosque but my aunt explained that it’s so that the men don’t stare at their Butts. And women cover themselves so that only their husbands can see their hair. I believe that a God gave different roles to males than females, so in some ways, I see why people might take offense, but I also think people misquote the Bible on those things. I believe we are all equal in God's eyes, and that we are all made in His image to carry out different aspects of His family. Being a protector and a provider, or being a nurturer and helper are all important things.
Yeah it has had a really big impact on gender inequality and I don't think u can just ignore that if your a firm believer. I think u should acknowledge it and think about it. I am and it's really hard bc I've been brought up religious and I don't agree with so much. At least I'm thinking and not ignoring like some people do.
In ways. In many ways it also says the opposite. Like in Hindu mythology, woman are regarded as sacred human beings like goddesses and mothers. But in real life, many Indian women are not respected the way they should be according to religion. Over the past few decades things have changed but the problem still exists in many parts of the country. In most rural areas in India, women are expected to be limited to household work, they don't have the facilities they require for a hygienic lifestyle, they are not given education because people think it's a waste and that women will do household chores anyway, they are not given any choices when it comes to marriage (like if they even want to get married or not, who they would like to marry, etc.). Basically religion doesn't affect people in the ways it should here.
Personally, I don't believe in religion. I'm a spiritual guy, not a religious one because religion is corrupted, spirituality is not.
Oh more "gender equality"? More BS about how "bad" women have it in western countries? Yeah, women have it so bad in the west now as they get contraception and don't have to deal with child birth, they live in air conditioned buildings and houses and have endless food supplies at grocery stores, they have government assistance to deal with unemployment and single parent homes, they can go to school and universities and get lots of scholarship opportunities, they can apply for any job they want and have an aptitude for.

I agree in some religions it may be truth but i think its matter of stucked progress. Back in the days women had their own jobs to do at home while man was securing them by working hard and by being most of the time outside they gained more knowlege so they thought they can decide everything better even i dont think it was right at all. Nowadays its a totaly different situation and it would take a long time to describe and examine this topic. Just FYI im atheist but i respect anyone believing anything if it doesn't spread hate or harming others for any kind of purpose.
I can, t see how. God made men and women. The man for her and the woman for him., not below but beside. Introducing ideologies like feminism and all this sjw madness just pollutes the word of God. It, s supposed to be read as is, because God's word stands as truth. It dosn, t need improvement and if someone believes it does then they have a serious lack of knowledge of the bible, read it and ask him to show you how word. Depending on what your definition is, I'm not an atheist, but I'm more open minded then most Christians, however the secular world is yours to live in, and modern politics and activist movements are wasting there time thinking they can reorganize this society just so they can feel better about themselves. These movements when consulting religious people are an insult to the Democratic process. That's why there is still a legal framework to protect religious freedoms. Unfortunately the show down is going to probably take place between the secular world and the age old religious institutions of the world, Christians have to know what the threat is and that there way of life is under threat.
Religion itself? No. However many of the believers of various religions do... ex: before Pope Gregory, priests were allowed to marry and nuns had power in the church. Depends on the religion. For example, females of Islam don't have gender equality and can't even leave the house without the permission of her husband, have to wear hijabs and wear certain clothing. If that's not inequality I don't know what is.

Christianity and Judaism are both very patriarchal. I don't know much about Muslim but I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it is very patriarchal. Not sure about Hinduism or Buddhism but I'm gonna go ahead and say that yes, religion hinders equality rights.
It could, I suppose if you're talking about Fundamentalist religious beliefs of roles in the household. Though, I often wonder why people are so obsessed with equality now. If your goal is equal outcome then you have a larger barrier called biological differences in your way. My wife and I are not equals in many ways. Is this a bad thing? Hardly. We both have strengths and weaknesses and we work together to have a happy household.

It certainly is. Specially in less developed countries. I mean the Bible litterally says that women should be subordinated to men in more than one instance. The Quran is even more extreme when it comes to this. Not all religions promote that view though.
It would depend on what religion? Islam a man can have four wives, but a woman can only have one husband. A man on a jihad can take sex slaves as war booty, but a woman can't have sex slaves. A woman's testimony is only worth half of a man's so if I rape a woman and the woman takes me to trial and I say I didn't do it. Her testimony is worth half of mine. I walk and she gets stoned to death for admitting to committing adultery. This is all in the Qur'an. I should convert to Islam!

1 Corinthians 14:33-35(NIV) does state "As in all the congregations of the Lord’s people. Women should remain silent in the churches, They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the law says. Placing too much emphasis on any one passage is almost always a mistake, and it should also be understood with reference to the Zeitgeist of the early first century. The Bible should be read and understood as a message of love and hope and not picked apart for its inconsistencies.

It depends on how religious text is beng interpreted in your society. In India there are certain customs and religious practises which discriminate towards woman. For eg. women were not allowed to enter in certain temple while they are in period. But Indian SC recently declared this practise as unconstitutional as it violates the few of the fundamental rights of woman.
Well , it certainly does. Let's say it depends from country to country , not completely on religion or religious teachings , because we have different nations following the same religion, but there seems to be a wide gap in gender participation , some countries have both males and females walking side by side in every sphere of life... Be it of any religion , some have dedicated duties or spheres to specific genders... It's a matter of perspective.

Well, if we actually read many of the scriptures and watch what's in practice then I can see how one could come to that conclusion. Even Buddhism women aren't viewed equally.
Yes it is Various verses in the bible and Quran objectifies and vilifies ladies and is used in the justifications of all the injustices done to our ladies.

Yes and no. The authority nature of religion coupled with history can be a great barrier. The actual doctrines of many religions can break those barriers down.
Religion is a barrier. Take the Norse culture for example, in this culture women who where not slaves could own land, business, and divorce their husbands. Then in come Christianity and boom women have no say in really anything.
