If God is all we need, does nothing else matter?

I feel like this question sounds rhetorical but Im serious, sadly.

I read a plan about basically trusting God with everything. And by making it easier, you pretty much let everything else go and focus on Him.

there's a few lessons in OT such as God telling Abraham to sacrifice his son Isaac to test Abraham's devotion to him , and the story of Job where Satan tests Jobs devotion to God by ruining Jobs life.. so I'm afraid so yes , if I believed in the Bible then clearly this is the moral to learn from these stories.. but how your supposed to love a God more than your own children , when if you believe in NT , God has been absent for 2 Milena, your children who are part of you , who's survival and existence was reliant on you , your mother , your existence was reliant on her , your friends, family , people you love and have opened your heart to , your supposed to love the absent God than all these people who have impacted your life.. and Job ended up losing everything, all his family died all his livestock died , he ended up covered in boils.. Abraham didn't kill his son , some sheep copped it instead (I've never understood the blood thirst and how a random sheep being slain would wright my wrongs) , the Abraham gets given a covenent with God which consisted of Abraham getting the end of his todger cut off.. I'm sure there's a good point to job and Abraham's devotion to God somewhere , I'm sure there must be

The only part of that quote I agree with is: "Stop putting your hope in false security." Possessions, status, and the corporate ladder are physical things that you can see help you. You don't have to trust them, because their effects are plain. God and heaven, on the other hand, require trust because you can't see them and have no way to actually know they exist or help you (because they don't exist).

Placing your faith in something that actually requires faith is a good way to be controlled by others. A sad excuse to sit on your thumb and make no attempt to improve your own life or the world around you, because some magic man will do it for you. There is no magic man. It's your own responsibility to improve your circumstances and the only heaven is the one you create here on earth.

I'm not sure if "let everything else go" implies physical things, and I doubt it. Letting go of concern, worry, stress, yes, I see that being the meaning. Trusting in God alone is believing that He can give and take away jobs, hobbies, homes, etc. He supplied mana everyday for the Israelites. Acknowledge Him in all your ways and He'll make your paths straight. We plan and He directs. He had me working at a retail job for a time being and lead me to quit. I trust Him. If you can trust an unbelieving boss to give you your check each payday, why not believe the One who made you? He is Jehovah Joreh

You're confused.

God gives you the script and direction, it's you that needs to own the role and make it worthy of an Oscar, or fail and get a wooden spoon.

God is not your puppet master in that regard. If you are doing good because of "heaven" then you are not likely a very good person or character. Do good for the sake of good and prevent others from joining bad. That's a more human and local way of doing good and making good changes

Ok. Quit your job, give away all your possessions, withdraw all of your money and throw it in the trash and see how long you last with only "god". When you're hungry just pray to God for some food and trust he will give it to you. Don't ask anyone for it, don't try to find it yourself, just trust God. Let me know how it goes.

God can provide through people if they want to give whether they felt like it was God directing them for not. With that said, I pretty much did this. I let go of my belongings except for a few items of clothing and my car, which was my "home" I didn't tell anyone what my needs were nor did I ask for help. I traveled to many states in america visiting friends and having conversations about God with strangers. When I got into town, I'd meet up with friends I hadn't seen in years to catch up with them. They'd ask where I'm staying and I'd tell them Walmart since I'm traveling. They'd offer for me to stay with them until I left. I'd stay for about 4 days. So, only when I was asked about my life would I tell them what I'm doing. I'm not going to lie or hide my journey. I was randomly given an envelope without a name on it and it had $100 in it. I'm just sharing my experience trusting God.

@Cmoreins The money was probably from a charity or someone who took pity on you. Think about it. What is more of a miracle that you travelled around telling people you were living in the wallmart car park and suddenly god magically made $100 appear? Or is it more of a miracle that someone you knew told someone else about you and they took pity on you? Obviously the first one is more of a miracle and less likely to have actually happened. You went on a journey of delusional confirmation. Basically you confirmed your delusion.
Saying god can make someone do something whether that's why they think they're doing it of not is like saying Homer Simpson is magically real and controlling your thoughts. Both are equally fictional characters.
