If God doesn't exist... there is nothing leaving your body when you die.

There was no soul or anything in the body. You were so close to making that realisation, but I guess the scope of it just scared you too much.

There's nothing really special about living bodies. Life is just natures way of keeping meat fresh.

There's nothing... leaving the body. The body just ceases to function. You're presupposing a soul, and then assuming atheists must fill that void with something analogous - we don't. There is no soul, bodies just cease functioning from age or injury.

I don't quite think you've understood the analogy. The power produced by the engine is the soul.

Because... not all injuries and people are identical. Some people are healthier, they get treated sooner or their injury/sickness was not so severe to begin with.
I could flip that around and ask; 'If there IS a god, why isn't there the consistency that you expect there to be?'

All of your thoughts, emotions, actions, and the subconscious functioning of your organs are all controlled by nothing more then electrical signals due to chemical gradients in your brain. When you die, those electrical signals cease to happen, and all of those thoughts and emotions cease to exist. Its nothingness at death.

you're basing this off with the assumption that "something leaves your body when it dies" is something thats scientifically accepted or whatever.

And why does your "soul" need to live on when you die? For what? Why is it so hard to accept that people die and stop being alive? I believe there's nothing that happens after you die.

It takes oxygen (and nutrients) for cells to function. When you cease getting oxygen to your brain cells (through any number of means) your brain will cease to function and the cells will die.

You think of something and you have a picture of it in your mind. And you know that it's there, because you are aware of it. You can't say it doesn't exist, because when there's nothing, there isn't anything to be aware of. But you are aware of it, so it's there. Where did this come from? From your physical body? From nothing? You can't really say it came from nothing, because nothing means nothing is there so that something can come out of it. If you say something can come out of nothing, it contradicts the concept of nothingness. This is a clear contradiction and thus a logical impossiblity.

So what do you think is the reason? Do you have any explanation for this?

@behnam1999 I think that awareness is part of your physical body. It's the collection of neurons and all that make up your brain and create perception through your senses. It's highly complex for sure, but I still believe it's part of that physical body.
To argue your point though, your awareness, along with thoughts, memory, personality, etc are all electrochemical energy in the brain. You can't get ride of energy, you can only change it's state, so when it ceases to be alive, what happens to that energy?
I guess my thoughts on that are that you are constantly creating that energy by burning calories and creating heat, but that ceases when your cells stop functioning.

That picture is surely part of your awareness. If we say that's made up of neurons, then it's physical, because neuron is a physical thing. So if they do a surgical operation on your brain they can get this picture out of your brain. But this is absurd. Even the fact that you see that picture, I mean your imagination is even more interesting. You see that, but not with your eyes, it's not like there's light reflected from that picture to you so you can see it, your brain does not have eyes again, but you see that!! How? The picture is not physical, being physical means to be made up of parts, but that's not physical. Saying this is ridiculous. You say if I'm thinking about something, that's electrochemical energy. Ok, then what does prompt these chemical reactions, what does trigger these signals when I decide to imagine something? There is something to command your brain to send these signals to make chemical reactions so that you see that picture. How do these signals know that in order to create a particular picture they need to be sent in a particualar way. I mean there's really something aside from your physical body. When you imagine a particular picture, even if you say that's just a result of electrochemical processes, again there needs to be a concious entity to decide which particular picture you're gonna imagine, among endless possibilites of pictures that could be imagined. Of course it's not your neurons that trigger your consciousness, it's your consciousness that triggers and affects these signals and processes to operate in a particular way.

It doesn't matter how deep scientists can go down this chain of cause and effect which leads to your imagination of a particular picture. One fact that we can already know about for sure is that your consciousness must begin this chain. Because you are making a decision out of so many many many possibilites. There must be something that differentiates between those possibilites and ultimately triggers your brain and its parts to function in a particular way.

However I don't think it's like your consciousness triggers a physical process that leads to that picuture in your mind. I believe your consciousness is the direct cause of that picture, without any sort of medium in between.

Guys, look at the clock on the wall of your home. Where did this clock come from?

You say it's made by someone because it isn't possible that it can be there by itself, there must be and intelligent being who has put the separate parts of this clock into such order. Now look at your body. Isn't it even more complex than the wall on your clock? Then why don't you say there must an intelligent being creating your body?

The sample size of universes or "worlds" isn't big enough for us to have any conception of what "order" or "perfection" can mean. If you show an isolated tribe of humans a simple calculator, they may think it's a deific object. They're simply ignorant of further advances in society. To say that our 21st century conception of order is the correct one would be incredibly arrogant.

If this analogy does not help you, it doesn't matter. Cosmological argument is another way to talk about the existence of God.

Well, there is no way to disprove the existence of a being who is all-powerful and magic is there? You can simply say things like the Bible is the word of God and therefore correct and the Earth is young and he put dinosaur bones in the Earth to test us. Belief is like that.

I said if my analogy didn't help I can prove it by starting with cosmological argument. Cosmological argument does not talk about the existence of God as it is described in religion. It talks about a first cause that is uncaused itself. Then upon the foundation of this argument and its conclusion I can bring further arguments to prove this first cause's attributes. And yes, it's not possible to disprove his existence but it is possible to prove it.

Yes, it's all about the definition of "God", but then the bible says that God created man in his own image, so maybe we look the same but currently lack the power?
Eve the pope a while back said there may be something to evolution and that maybe Adam & Eve didn't look quite like we do today.
