First, let’s get something straight. I have no problem with the belief in God or a higher being. That’s great. But what I can’t stand is religion being shoved in my face, especially around the holidays. I can’t stand it when some people can’t ever seem to just stfu about how god is great and everything that is good that has ever happened is because god is looking out. Ok great but what about others who are just as devoted yet have a lot of misfortunes in their life? God can’t be on everyone’s side!
And not everything bad that happens is because of the devil. I read an aunts Facebook post about how she got a flat tire on the way to Thanksgiving dinner and it was the devil trying to keep her away from family. But god won in the end because they just happened to have a can of fix a flat. I guess god put it there. Like, come on.

I've been agnostic and taking lessons from Buddhism since about 19.

I'm like you. I avoid discussing religion unless it's with people I know are open to speaking abstractly and without an agenda.

There's a religious barker (credit where credit's due, the guy buys nearby homeless men a coffee if they hand out his pamphlets around whatever intersection he's barking at) in my city who tries to get people to convert by promising them death and hellfire if they don't. Recently, LGBTQ protesters have started setting up alongside him and shouting messages of love - it's a public nuisance but it's nice to live somewhere where both sides can be (loudly) heard.

If I'm approached I usually calmly tell them Satan already has my devotion before throwing up the horns of beast and walking away. Technically, I do follow the tenents of the Satanic Temple - I'm just not a card carrying member.

I hear you. Not at all a fan of the crazy religious. Although, right now I'd say the MOST annoying "religious" people are the SJWs, vegans and climate cultists who like to pretend that what they're doing is anything other than the same annoying fuckery as the old-school religious nannies who were always trying to censor the whole goddamned world.

Perhaps you’re right on what I was confusing when I made this post. Now that you mention it, having a god positive attitude can be really obnoxious when it becomes so objectively unrealistic. I’m not going to stop them from thinking the devil himself gave them a flat tire. But that doesn’t mean I’m going to take them seriously when they think that type of foolishness.
