Why do people think you can prove there is a god?

The whole point is to have faith isn't it? Faith isn't fact so it isn't proof. There is no proof of any god so why do people continue to try prove it?

Well, if you examine the arguments for the existence of God from Aristotle, to Platinga, to Leibniz, to Kant, to Aquinas, to (insert dead philosopher name), have made very sound arguments for the existence of God. And these arguments, have been contested, but never disproven. So there is a compelling argument from the point of reason, for the existence of God.
The only way to disprove the existence of God, is to disprove causation. That is, disprove that cause-effect relationships do not exist fundamentally. The only problem with that, is if you were to succeed (you won't but your welcome to try), it would undermine the entirety of human knowledge. For instance, science and the scientific method is wholly dependant on causation. If causes do not necessitate their effects, then science ceases to function. And no quantum mechanics does not in anyway nullify causation. Not understanding the relationships between things, does not disprove causation. Quantum entanglement does not disprove causation, it only proves that causation does not necessarily have to be local.
I better stop, in fear of writing a dissertation. I am just dissuading common objections to the arguments for the existence of God.

A relative of mine was very pushy trying to convince me to keep being Christian for not getting god punishment. I told him to read the bible if he was such a believer. He accepted and now is an atheist as a result. The very same bible was the book that convinced him to stop believing. No perfect being would say and do contradictory things. Only a human would. Not to mention many of the documents aren't from the period they claim to be. They are "copies". And to add to the whole thing the commission to standardize the texts was made in Council of Trent.
Also Islam, Judaism and Christianity are all Abraham if religions. And come from similar stories.
My honest opinion is they created those stories to have to have order in agricultural societies. And since they lacked technological power to control some things of life, it was easier to connect things to an entity that would punish certain behaviors and award others. Life is much simpler that way.
A bit of humor (this is obviously fake) politheistic religions where there when the market started. When it became saturated with stories people connected with the ones with a stronger brand presence, Wich mostly were the monotheistic ones. Then the market became mature. New technology developed and this need started to become obsolete and the market started declining with the decreasing customer base.

Christianity worships Jesus. The story of Jesus is the story of the biggest "nice guy" ever. Not only didn't he even finish last he was asked to be killed by his very same compatriots. Also all the bad things that happen in this world are because of us and because of sin. God has allowed us to make our own choices knowing everyone would sin. Yes God is a GOD of Judgment but He is also a GOD of love and mercy. He gives everyone several chances to continue in their wicked ways. And the reason He allows bad things to happen to people are for several reasons. But mostly bc like a glow stick you need to bend it and break it to make it glow so that it can be used to the full effect. Same with us and God, He breaks us knowing that the hard times will help us and make us stronger they can make us glow and we can be that glowing light in someone else's darkest time. Nope O haven't had a job outside of the home because the Bible says that men are to provide for the house and the women are to stay home. The bible says women are to marry, and bear children. So no I stay home and cook, clean and watch my siblings.

Also, God having people killed for sin is Not murder. They deserved it. God wouldn't kill the innocent for no reason. The reason some Christians die when they were living right or have bad things happen to them is to either bring God glory or because He uses that to lead someone to Him. U my dad had a friend that was serving God, He was a great Christianb but He had seizures. Well one day his son woke up to find out his dad had died from His seizure he had the night before. We were so sad, the guy was like a really great guy. Well later his dad (whom he had been teying to give the gospel to for years) got saved. My dad was able to lead him to the Lord and so many people from his family got saved the day after his death. The reason they got saved was because that guy had been a great example to them and they wanted to see Him again. God used his death to bring others closer to Him. So u see nobody dies for mo reason. Paul was stones to death, why? Because God used that as a great example of how we need to be, how we should have courage. Also if you read the Bible so many bible stories picture Christ
